Tina had just walked in.

And she was the most breathtaking peacock Bette had ever seen.

She wore a sleeveless blue dress cut dangerously short in the front, the long back flowing beautifully behind her as she walked.

There was a fan of gorgeous blue and yellow feathers arching behind her, ensuring everyone stayed clear of the path she walked. She wore a mask that covered her face from the nose up, the colors similar to the rest of her ensemble. There was beak attached that stretched out far passed her own nose but in the most beautiful way Bette had ever seen. There were parts of the mask that seemed to sparkle breathtakingly and at the top center of it all, a few smaller feathers.

It was by far the best costume in the room, outdoing even Emma’s by a landslide. Bette was speechless, feeling more drawn to the blonde than ever before.

Her grip around Emma’s waist had loosened at some point as she stared at Tina, mesmerized. Fortunately, the redhead hadn’t noticed, her attention on the drinks headed her way.

“Shots!” Samantha and Amanda, twins and the last two members of the foursome, screamed out. They each held numerous shot glasses cupped between their slender hands, the clear liquid sloshing over the rim of every glass.

“And that’s my cue to leave” Thankful for the perfect opportunity to bow out, Bette held up her empty glass with a single nod to the group of excited girls.

She placed a swift kiss to Emma’s cheek before whispering in the redhead’s ear.

“Have fun and behave”

With that, she excused herself from the group before Emma could even object.

“Wai-” Emma’s words caught in her throat, desperately reaching out to grasp nothing but air as Bette sped off incredibly fast and out of reach.

She watched as the brunette made her way through the crowd, curious as to where her girlfriend was headed in such a hurry. What could be more important than spending time together especially on such a special day?

“Oh forget her” Maggie waved a dismissive hand in the air as she and the other girls crowded around Emma, each with shot glasses in hand.

They blocked the redhead’s line of sight and practically shoved a glass in Emma’s face, daring her to forget about the girlfriend that ditched her and to just enjoy the night instead.
