When they finally reached the Kennard residence it was getting darker but the sun was still up, gilding the leaves of the trees and keeping the warmth in the air. The ladies stopped the horses before approaching the house and got down. Elizabeth took Christina’s hand into hers and moved a little closer, while Alicia got busy tending to their horses, all the while curiously glancing at two women.
“Christina, darling,” suddenly they heard Daniel’s excited voice and Elizabeth hastily let go of Christina’s hand, moving away. They blushed nervously but if Daniel noticed anything, he didn’t show. Instead, he came towards Christina and sweetly kissed her on a cheek, then took Elizabeth’s hand and gently kissed it, “Ms. Porter, what a pleasant surprise.”
“What are you doing here, darling?” Christina asked, trying to sound natural, “I thought you’ll be hunting until late today?”
“We still are, but some of the gentlemen had run into a supply problem and we all decided to stop by the house to get more hunting gear and a few drinks. We’ll be on our way again soon,” Daniel answered, leading them towards the house. “I’ll be gone all night actually and be back early in the morning, if that is acceptable to you, dear?”
They saw a small group of men and servants on horses and foot, holding their guns, talking loudly with an occasional laughter that could be heard here and there.
“Yes, it’s perfectly fine with me, Daniel,” Christina nodded absently, observing all the gentlemen and smiling at those she recognized. Several of Daniel’s friends approached them to say ‘hello’ to Christina and asked being introduced to Elizabeth.
Catching a moment alone, Elizabeth whispered to her friend, “I feel as if fate just keeps getting in the way of our conversation.”
Christina just smiled back, nodding her head and touching Elizabeth’s elbow.
“I have an idea,” Elizabeth said when all the gentlemen finished with the pleasantries and admiration and returned to the group, “Why don’t we go back to my house and you can stay in the guest room tonight? I would hate the idea of you staying alone in your house.”
Christina thought for a minute about Elizabeth’s proposition, “I think it’s a wonderful idea and it will give us a chance to finally talk.”

Hey B&TF, you know how much I love this story and I’m always waiting patiently for an update. Now with this revelation you’re going to have to hurry up and post soon because this is getting good by the second. Somehow I missed this story when you first posted so I have no idea of what is yet to come. So please, don’t leave us waiting too long! xx

The blast of light where Elizabeth and Alicia were standing, was that someone being shot or the two of them disappearing into the future? Okay, I have lost my brain and can’t seem to find it.
I feel so silly because I got so weapped up in what was happening that my heart was pounding. I still am so impressed at your skill in weaving all of the threads together.
Once upon a time, a friend and I bought an antebellum house that was barely standing (It had a swimming pool on the property with antique mosaic tile we were interested in… crazy story… let’s just say we where young and had crazy ideas, lol)… Anyway! I wish I had paid more attention to the closets than that pool, LOL! I just love how you’ve brought Elizabeth through the closet to the twenty-first century!!! I’m all about a touch of elegance from the past within a wardrobe *wink*
i woke up this morning to the thought of the ride back when elizabeth was shot and remembered that its sunday and there should be another chapter… so imagine the smile when i saw that indeed there was one and longer that the last one too :) thank you for a great story cant wait for the next chapter…
LMAO at Sunkissed’s comment, ‘I wish I had paid more attention to the closets than that pool”… LOL! Anyway, B&TF, that was just WOW!!! That chapter was amazing! So tense and filled with the triggers of emotion, and angst, and fear, and confusion, and most of all anticipation for more!… I had thought that they would meet through the phone (with a 21st century’s Elizabeth) or through a telepathic experience.. But, no… Bette/Elizabeth is finally here! They are finally together, well at least into the same dimension. I’m guessing that it will take a little more time for them to properly meet, but I’m delighted already that we (you) had them see each other for the first time… Now, I’m really curious about this mystery about Elizabeth’s death, which was in fact Christina’s?… Anyhow, that was a great turn of events, certainly created by a brillant mind! Wow B&TF, you are full of surprises. I thought that Bette and Tina would meet as people in present day, but you have Elizabeth time travelling forward. This is great and really intriguing. This is really a good story and I hope you update again soon!
