Chapter 22, Part 1: Late night revelations (Tina talks to Alice about her feelings and Dana is frustrated with Alice)
(Previously) Bette understood that more than hundred years had passed since her time period, and her life as she knew it didn’t even existed anymore. Bette’s mind froze, reliving the nightmare, which had captured her, “To die…it’s all I can do now…to die. How could I live in this terrible and strange world?” Bette was shuddering from a despair of cosmic proportions but she couldn’t even cry anymore.
But then again, thinking about Alice helped Bette to calm down, “Alice was able to cross the barrier or the time portal as she called it, not just once but twice. And she was able to live and survive in my time, which was so different and strange to her too, I assume. So it’s possible for me to survive as well. I have a lot to learn…who knows what had happened in the last 120 years. Alice at least knew something about my world because for her it was a history. This world for me is a mystery.”
Bette knew that she was inconsistent in her feelings and thoughts but she attributed it to being a woman and more than that…being an exhausted and confused woman.
Suddenly a comforting idea flashed in her head, ‘Before I return back to my familiar time I can use this time to learn about all the progress that the world had made in the last 100 years. I can learn all about the freedom that women have here, especially the freedom to love. Maybe I should not despair…I just need to adjust and change my attitude towards certain…ideas and behavior, accept this adventure as a gift from the Lord Almighty and take advantage of all the opportunities that I can find in this world.’
After getting to that point in her thinking, Bette finally drifted off to sleep, smiling blissfully until the morning.

I do love this Bette and Tina. Thanks for reposting this story!!
You’re on a roll B&TF. This must be just a s confusing to Tina…wondering why she should have such strong feelings for a picture from so many years ago. Somehow I feel that Tina will prove to be the reincarnate of Christina. I can’t wait for your next chapter…hope to see it Friday.
The differences between Tina and Bette’s dilemmas are so striking. I am so moved by Bette’s courage. Eagerly waiting for your next chapter.
That was great !
Hey there! Sorry for the absence. Life has been crazy lately and I just caught up. This is going really well. I love how you portray all of Bette’s successive emotions at all the new things that she’s discovering. I feel for Tina, who’s quite certain of her feelings and can’t do nothing but wait for Bette to ‘catch up’ … I feel that it’s gonna be really interesting to see how Bette gets to know more about Tina and actually falls for her and not for Christina. Looking forward to seeing how everything unfolds. Thanks and PPS!
Hey, I’m really sorry I’m soooo late on commenting, but I was away for a little while. This chapter was great though. Off to read the new update !
