Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 23

Chapter 23: Lust or love or something in between (Pool party at Tina’s house and Tina and Bette have a brief encounter…or two)

(Previously) “So, if I tell my story to somebody and say that I came out of the closet…which in my case is the time barrier’s exit…then people will think that I’m gay?” Bette asked uncertainly.

Her statement brought another round of laughter from all the girls and the atmosphere became less intense and almost calm. Even Dana was able to relax and begin to get used to the idea of Bette being from another century, as well as Alice traveling back and forth and Tina admitting to being gay.

‘It’s all so overwhelming,’ Bette thought while listening to the friendly banter between her new and old friends. ‘I think I should consider myself truly blessed to be able to find such amazing friends in this new and unknown world…especially one friend in particular.’

She looked at Tina and a happy smile gradually appeared on her face. Tina sensed that Bette was watching her and turning towards her, giving Bette a questionable look. Bette continued to smile and Tina just smiled in return, unconsciously licking her lips. They continued staring at each other for the rest of the conversation until it was time to get dinner ready.

Year: Oct. 21, 2005

After dinner was over all the girls went out to relax on the patio. All Tina’s friends changed into the swimming suites and got into the pool, enjoying the warm and sunny afternoon. The girls were glancing at Bette occasionally, still trying to grasp the idea of her presence here but without a doubt they all accepted Alice’s story, as if time travel was an everyday occurrence in their lives.

“Bette, would you like to go for a swim? Do you know how?” Tina asked, noticing that the girls kept waving at them and asking them to join in.

“Well, yes, I know how to swim but I don’t have a bathing suit,” Bette answered, not really certain if she wanted to participate.

“Come with me and maybe we can find something suitable for a lady of your position in my wardrobe,” Tina said with a serious face, trying to keep Bette comfortable with all the novelties.
