“This is really beautiful, Tina but it sounds so complicated,” Bette said, seeing Tina in a different light and trying to understand her own emotions and feelings.

“Life is simple when you know what to expect and you’re ready for that. Other than that, especially when love and feelings are involved, things could be really complex,” Tina answered and stretched her hand to cover Bette’s hand that was lying leisurely on the couch cushion. She noticed vulnerable expression on Bette’s face and her body’s posture and said softly, “You look pretty tired. Let’s get you to bed. Today was truly emotional and overwhelming…especially for you.”

Tina grabbed Bette’s hand and led the exhausted and half-asleep brunette to the guest bedroom. They stood silently in front of the bedroom door for a minute, still holding hands and smiling at each other.

‘Why does it feel like a first date?’ Tina thought, sensing familiar chills running up and down her spine that she felt every time she touched any part of Bette’s body. ‘I’m tingling all over.’

‘Why do I feel so relaxed in Tina’s presence and so attracted to her touch, her smile, and even her scent?’ Bette thought, not willing to let go of Tina’s hand but felling really tense at the same time.

“Well…goodnight, Bette,” Tina said softly and leaned slowly towards her guest. She intended to give her a hug but right away noticed a flicker of nervousness in Bette’s eyes. Tina stopped inches away from the brunette’s face. She smiled again and lightly kissed Bette on a cheek.

“Goodnight,” Tina repeated and turned around to go back to her room when she felt Bette’s fingers gently touching the palm of her hand. Tina stopped and looked into Bette’s eyes again. She didn’t see any uneasiness there anymore, only calmness and acceptance.

“Tina,” Bette said with emotion that suddenly felt very overwhelming, “Thank you for the lovely evening…I had an amazing time or, as Alice would say, I had a lot of fun. Thank you.” She gave Tina a hug, holding her tightly for some time and then went to her room.

Bette quietly closed the door and leaned against it, smiling widely and trying to control her rapid heart beat. She got ready for bed, brushing her teeth with a wonderful brush and amazing toothpaste just as Tina had showed her before. With anticipation of another sweet dream, Bette got into her comfortable bed.

‘What is happening to me? It felt like a courtship…no, wait…what did Alice call that thing here? Date…yes, it felt like a date, and I loved it. Is it possible for a person who loves to sleep to wish for the morning already because I get to see Tina again? I can’t wait.’ And with those thoughts and a smile Bette finally let sleep overtake her, overwhelmed by all the emotions of this wonderful day. 

After Bette went inside, Tina touched her side of the door with the palm of her hand and stood in silence a little longer in front of the bedroom. She wanted to analyze what had just happened between Bette and her but all she could think of was the soft and silky skin of Bette’s cheek. It was so different from kissing a man and Tina definitely liked that difference.

She sighed for what seemed like the tenth time today and went to her bedroom. Preparing for bed she tried not to think about Bette. Brushing her teeth she tried even harder not to think about Bette. Lying between the cold and crisp sheets she used all of her will power not to think about Bette. Finally, dozing off into a wonderful land of dreams all Tina could do was thinking and dreaming about Bette.
