Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 46

“Wow…it was romantic, no wonder Katie married him,” Tina exclaimed, impressed by the story.

“When she got back home the flowers were still arriving and by the end of the day she didn’t know where to put them and some of them ended up in my bedroom,” Bette smiled, remembering that day. “I pretended that they were sent to me by my prince charming and I think I had a really interesting dream that night.”

“What kind of a dream?” Tina asked curiously.

“Do you mind if I’ll tell you tonight about it?” Bette winked, “I bet you’ll be more willing to listen then because now you are late for work.”

“And I bet that I can make you happier than David made Katie,” Tina smiled at Bette and gave her a kiss before leaving for work.

Place: Los Angeles, CA – the CAC

    Year: Feb. 14, 2006 – Tuesday day

Bette was on her way to the CAC, thinking about everything that was happening lately.

A week ago Tina and she talked to a lawyer and submitted Bette’s papers along with the affidavit that Melvin signed. Bette was allowed to work legally while her status as a citizen was being confirmed.

Bette continued to work as Franklin’s assistant and he couldn’t ask for better or a more dedicated one. Art was Bette’s life. Apart from Tina, Kit and their friends, nothing Bette cared for more than her work.

Helena Peabody rarely visited the museum since Tina stopped coming there with Bette and the brunette was glad that she only had to deal with the snobby Brit on a monthly basis when they had their regular board meetings.

Candace was a whole different story, though. The next exhibition was planned for May and the desperate carpenter tried to move mountains in order to offer the most favorable bid and secure work on that exhibit for her crew once again.

She continued to stop by the museum almost every day and even though she didn’t bother Bette directly, her presence there was unnerving. As if she was a shadow, Candace hung out near Bette’s office, trying to catch a glimpse of her or followed Bette around the galleries, pretending to be looking at the art works.

    1. I’m so sorry that you’ve been sick. You must rest up and conserve your energy because you have a big trip in two months. But writing stories won’t use up any of your energy, so it’ll be OK if you keep posting. Thank you for such a sweet chapter. I’m so happy that Bette is feeling more and more secure in the modern world. As for the new stories, please take good notes as they swirl around in your head so you that they don’t disappear into the ether. Learn from my mistakes. :-) Looking forward to your next chapter.

    2. Whoa B&TF…I hope you’re feeling a bit better now. Excellent update…this was my kind of Valentine’s day! You keep writing and we’ll keep reading.
