(Previously) Bette stood by the bedroom door and looked at Tina quietly. To Tina, the silence between them lasted for entire century.

“Please, don’t be silent…please,” Tina got off the bed and took a hesitant step towards Bette.

Bette raised her arm to stop Tina from moving any closer. Another century passed by until she heard Bette’s voice full of pain and sadness, “I have to go, Tina. Please don’t follow me. I need to be alone right now.”

And with these words she turned around again and stormed out of the room. She knew her words hurt Tina, she wanted to hurt her. But at the same time her heart was breaking, knowing that she was leaving the love of her life and not knowing if she will ever see her again.

Back in the house Tina slowly dropped on the floor. Tears were streaming down her pale cheeks. She embraced her knees and began rocking back and forth on a floor, repeating the words as she cried, “You promised you would never leave me, Bette…you promised.”

Chapter 56: Leave or not to leave (Bette is searching for answers and Tina is searching for Bette)

Place: Los Angeles, CA

Year: April 18, 2006 – Tuesday night

As soon as Bette got into her car she quickly drove out of their neighborhood to put as much distance between them as she possibly could. After driving aimlessly for an hour, Bette couldn’t stand it anymore. She pulled over to a curb and turned off the engine. Tears came down like a waterfall because she had no strength to hold them any longer.

She was crazy in love with Tina and she wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, but the truth about Christina that she accidentally uncovered, made her feel betrayed. She understood Tina’s reasons for hiding the truth and in the last hour Bette kept asking herself what would she do in the similar situation. Just the thought of losing Tina made Bette’s heart cry in pain, but would she lie to protect their relationship?

The more Bette thought about it the more she realized that as painful and scary as it felt, she would tell Tina the truth because she owed to her…and then they would deal with that together as a couple. Tina didn’t give her that choice. Bette buried her face in her hands, sobbing and whispering through tears, “This is such a mess. What are we going to do? What am I going to do?”
