parenting: the teenage years part 10 ( sequel to girl episode)

“Wait a minute.. Im not saying she loves her like you love her. She wished she could to feel that closeness that you two feel. But she cant and she hates you for that.”

    “What? That makes no sense.”

“Think about it, Porter. She thought she found the same love you two have when she met Lindsey. They broke up. Her heart was torn to pieces and Tina was there to pick them up… glue each piece back together. Thus thinking that no one will ever compare to her second mother.”

I was silent. Absorbing what my best friend had just said. Could she be right? I never thought of Tina and Evan relationship that way before or even looked at it from Evans point of view.

“Uh, Alice… can I call you back?”

“Yeah, sure. Talk to you later, Porter.”

I still had the phone in my hand when James entered my office ten minutes later.

    “Bette, Bette…”

“Huh?” I answered with I knew was a blank look on my face.

“Its almost time for that appointment you told me to remind you about.”

“Oh, yeah… thank you,” I said placing the receiver back in its cradle.

I gathered the catalogs James brought me earlier and my bag.

“Ill see you later, James. Or tomorrow. Or… whenever,” I said walking out the door.

    “Okay… if theres anything pressing…”

“Call my cell,” I finished his sentence.

I repeated the directions out loud as I sat in front of the building.

“I guess this is it,” I said taking a deep breath.

I pulled myself together and entered the office building.

Shes going to be late. Shes going to be late, I thought to myself as Evan and I sat in front of the receptionist.

I had looked at the door and my watch a thousand times before it opened and she walked through. The receptionist and Evan looked up greeted by her smile.

“Sorry, Im late,” she said sitting on the other side of Evan.

Evan moved an inch closer to me.

    “Youre not late.”

“I thought I was,” she said taking in her surroundings with wide eyes.

I waited for the inevitable question.

    “What is this place, Tee?”

She didnt read the door before entering.

WOW..that was powerfull…i have to agree with Alice in part this is not an “Edipo and Jocasta” thing BUT Evan have been most of your life only with Tina now thats why such a connection and in the other hand Tina is lost cuzz she could handle Evan by herself without any help…and i hope Bette finally undertand that and try to be there for her family before she loose them and now she has no job…oh boy DRAMA…lol..amazing chapter i love it..post real real soon :-)
