Phoenix Rising (7)
Chapter 7
They all took a breather and about an hour later they were sitting on the couch with Alice in the middle holding the phone.
“Okay TK it’s your call who’s first? The psychopath Cop or Bette?”
Tina smiled at her friend’s choice of words.
“Well I think we all know the answer to that…”
“Definitely the Psychopath Cop, way easier.”
They all shared a nervous laugh.
“Tina, should I make the call?”
“No Al, I think I can do it. I think it might give some sort of closure…ya know…”
“Here goes…”
Tina grabbed the phone, took a deep breath, and dialed the number. They all waited until.
“Mike, it’s Chris.”
“Chrissie, Oh my God. It’s so good to hear your voice. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I tried to come see you, but they wouldn’t let me. Please, I’m so sorry. I just …I just couldn’t lose you. I’m so sorry.”
“Listen Mike and listen good. Be very thankful that I haven’t pressed charges or made your life a living hell. You just about killed me and I will be looking at your handiwork for a long time, so please spare me the drama. I want my stuff. I want everything in that house that is mine packed in the 2 suitcases in the bedroom closet and I want you to bring them to Charlies’ and then I want you to get in your car and drive away. If I even suspect someone is following my friend I swear I will dial 911 and make your life a living hell. Got it.”
“Yeah Chrissie, I got it. I swear, I won’t try anything. I’m so sorry. Please don’t hate me.”
Tina was silent for a moment.
“I don’t hate you Mike. Get some help. Okay?”
“Okay, I’m sorry.”
“Good Bye Mike.”
Click.
Alice jumped up.
“Oh my fucking god…I do believe…TK is back!!!!!!”
Tina leaned back on the couch and was silent for a minute.
“Well, I have to say…That felt pretty good…Next.”
After a while, Tina decided to call Charlie’s, the tavern she worked at, to explain that she wouldn’t be back and ask Charlie to call when Mike brought her bags there. Charlie was a big man with a bigger heart who really looked out for Tina. They shared a brief heartfelt conversation, he told her to call him if she ever needed a job or a reference and he assured her that he’d have her last check ready when her friend picked up her stuff. He wished her well and the call ended. Tina sighed and smiled at her friends.

unbelievable write soon……
*Pout* Hey! Where’s my shoutout?! LOL – kidding. Love this – can’t wait to hear the phone conversation!
This story gets more interesting with every post. Please don’t leave us hanging too long with this cliffhanger! am enjoying it immensely. PPS
Great chapter & great friends. Loving it.
Oh my goodness, that was a fantastic chapter. So glad Tina called that horrible guy and just hope he really didn’t follow them in any way. I don’t trust men that hit women and especially if they are policemen. Have known a couple and didn’t like them either. Hope her conversation with Bette goes well and that Bette is nice to her. I believe she will be nice to Tina but they are both so hurt over this. Can hardly wait for the next update. Thanks for posting. PPVVS
How will that call go? Brief and to the point? or… (dare I hope) with Tina willing to make the second move? (the first being Tina even making the call). Great chapter, D&A. thanks :)
