Chapter 62
Spaceland
Bette parked her Cadillac in the small side lot before making her way to the quaint little building that looked like it belonged on the streets of Solvang with its Danish-style paneling. There were two other cars in the lot, a supped-up bright yellow Mitsubishi and a shiny, green Astin Martin.
With her documents in hand, Bette approached the opened side door as she was instructed to by one of the employees she spoke with by phone. The booking agent should already be there, as she was told by the young guy over the phone, he usually “rolls in around 2:30.” It was now after 3:00 and Little Porter was coming to finalize the performance deal that had Kit and the Stouts playing a show at the venue next Tuesday.
Dressed in a business casual getup, she lingered for a moment in the doorway, looking around for any sign of life. When she found none, Bette tapped lightly on the doorframe.
“Yeah, come on back!”
Bette stepped in and immediately heard voices coming from an office down the short hallway. One of the voices was female and was vaguely familiar.
When she approached the doorway of the office, she was greeted by a young hipster-looking guy, who couldn’t have been older than she was. He wore rectangular black-rimmed glasses and had meticulously messy, sandy brown hair complete with product in it to give it the I-don’t-care-what-my-hair-looks-like-but-that’s-why-it’s-cool kind of style.
“Hi, you must be Bette?” he greeted, offering his hand.
“Yes, Bette Porter.” She shook it. “Are you Zack Spear?”
“The one and only.” He laughed.
It was then that Bette noticed the woman standing behind Zack.
“We meet again, Bette.” The woman said with a sly grin on her face.
“Jodi, hello.” Bette said unable to hide the surprise in her voice. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m representing the new resident band that plays Monday night shows here for the next four weeks or so. Just going over some logistics with Zack here.” She replied.
“Logistics? More like demands.” Zack said with a laugh.
Bette forced a chuckle.
“Oh, shut it. You love being bossed around Zack, just admit it.” Jodi teased the young booking agent.

I knew that Jodi was going to use that knowledge about Tina and what Aaron wanted. Now when she tells Bette it will look like she was hiding something. Trouble ahead.
That’s so cool having good music listeners,and as a professional, it’s important for us. I’m still on the road till the end of august. Well, it seems that the couple will cope with hard times?!!!!! I Really, Really do NOT like jodi. Something about her drove me crazy and not because of Tina or Bette. Just something about her I disliked. Looks like Bette and Tina are in for a bumpy ride.
Sing with me: “There is trouble ahead….” that was far from boring my dear! In actual fact I really enjoyed Bette putting Jodie back into her place….whatever dark hole that should be….. But there is nothing like a woman scorned and I am sure that although Bette did not immediately react to Tina’s boss wanting to book Kit and Kit only, she will be mulling over it soon enough! This was a very good chapter….like all of them really… I don’t know why I pretend to be surprised, you are beyond excellent and entertaining! This chapter made my breakfast homemade pancakes and blueberry sauce taste even better! Thanks for posting! :0)
Merciful heavens!!! Will jodi just go away and leave everyone alone. She is such a piece of slime. Sure hope Tina will talk to Bette real fast and let her know what Aaron wants to do and that she is having nothing to do with it and that she referred him to Joyce. Gosh I so want “our girls” to be alright with each other and not have any problems. Knowing jodi she will not give up until she has broken them apart but, hopefully that will not happen. Tina please go and talk with Bette pronto, don’t let it linger another moment. Will someone please hasten jodi’s departure from this earth. Great chapter. Thanks.

I think it will be an misunderstand between B and T. I hope at the end of the story they can trust each other. Whatever happened they’ll love each other.

Hi meloveslu, I love this chapters that link together and provide interestin insight into the storylines and characters of the main players. This addition proved Jodi’s untrustworthness as Zack’s comments and reactions confirmed Bette’s gut instincts. I loved that Bette told Jodi that Tina was her girlfriend even if she did open a chink in their relationship that Jodi is now going to exploit to the full. I do hope that Bette and Tina can work through this and it strengthens their partnership. I fear that there will be hurt and unsettled time but love and peace will win in the end with a big dose of payback for Jodi. More please as I am totally loving this most excellent adventure. Silent fan emerging here to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed this story thus far. I’m relatively new to TLW Fan Fic and yours was the first I read that has all of the characters in completely different roles. You’ve done a wonderful job weaving together 3 of my life loves (music, Tina and Bette :) in a very entertaining way (pardon the unintended pun). Well written story balancing band dynamics, relationships and the music industry world perfectly with dialogs that flow nicely too.Looking forward to more :)
