Chapter 63
Alphaville Records
“I don’t know guys. I’m not really feeling them.” Tina said as she listened to the God-awful guitar solo on a demo CD.
“That’s what we thought. They weren’t much better live either.” Esai said. “Maybe tonight’s show will be more promising.”
“Maybe.” Tina said. “I’m gonna get back to these reports though, guys.”
“No problem.” Said Oscar. “We just thought you’d want to take a listen. You know, in case you were wondering why we came up empty-handed last night.”
“Don’t worry guys, I trust your judgment right now. When you guys invite your first band to the studio for a private session interview, and they end up trashing the place, then my trust in your judgment will require a little more scrutiny.” Tina joked.
“Alright boss. Catch ya later.” Esai said as he and Oscar walked out of Tina’s office.
“Bye guys!”
She inhaled a deep breath before re-focusing her energy on her budget reports for the last quarter. It was already after 4 o’clock and she was hoping to slip out of the office by 5:30 at the latest so she could head over to Bette’s.
Just as she was about to review her budget items, Dana popped her head around her office door.
“Hey, T!” she said.
“Hi. What’s up, Dane?”
“Nothing much. Haven’t seen you today. I wanted to know how it went with Bette.”
Blowing a deep breath that puffed out her cheeks she ran her hand through her blonde hair.
“It went well with Bette last night.”
Dana chuckled knowing exactly what Tina was referring to.
“How well was it?”
“Dana, I’m so fucked.” Tina said bluntly.
“I bet you are.” Dana said with a creepy smile, still thinking the subject was sexually related.
“No, not like that, Dane. Definitely not a good kinda fucked.”
“I’m not following you, T.”
“I did something incredibly stupid.”
“You’re supposed to breathe through your mouth.”
Tina quirked an eyebrow, yet again.
“What? You know you’re the second person who has said that to me today and I don’t even know what that means.”
Dana shrugged her shoulders. “You will.”

I know Alice meant it as a slight, but what could be sweeter than being whupped by Tina Kennard?? This is the one time I can remember Alice actually helping diffuse a situation. I’m hoping they finally talk and then get to the more important task of teaching Tina to breathe through her mouth! Lovely, as always.
Somehow I don´t think that talk will be smooth sailing.
Yeah… the story continues! :) Hey MeLL, as a musician I’m a sucker for all things musical. Add to that my (hopefully healthy) new found love of all things Tibette and this is a slam dunk read for me – besides your writing and dialog are so well done. Normally I don’t comment on the specifics of a story but I gotta tell you I’m anticipating how the “breathe through your mouth” comment will be revealed to Tina ;) Have a GREAT weekend!
Hehe MeLL … I still want to laugh after reading about the breathing tips.. :-D great writing dear MeLL :-) your story’s characters really going well with the show … I can picture LH’s doing the confused yet intrigued and curious expression on this while Dana has an innocent look but in some sort of serious way.. :-p hehe… Btw looks like I am missing something on the breakfast menu/recipe here.. ;-) hahaha… And funny thing my little one also just asked for pancakes! Anyway.. Will Alice nosiness brings something good this time?! ;-) sometimes having a memory of a gold fish is kinda a good thing as each time I re-read the story, I still and will be amazed on how it develop… And I do enjoy reading your story MeLL!! Hey MeLL, I knew I would read you this morning! To answer your question, I sing like a strangled cat. Ok maybe not that bad but I really make yummy pancakes….. Looks like Alice may have spoken a bit too much …. Was she not under strick orders to keep her mouth shut about Alphaville and the possibility of a contract or not because of that little spark between B&T?Anyway…. Looks like great minds and all that… Our two ladies are gonna clear the air ….. But will the fog lift quickly? Great update as usual and I love your subtle innuendos in your dialogues! o_O
Great chapter. Really hope their talk goes well and neither of them flips out. Bette will need to understand that Tina was trying her best to stay neutral, then found herself between a rock and a hard place by Aaron’s directive. You guys really like pancakes w/blueberry sauce, well I want to give you another choice that I cooked over the weekend, Chicken and Waffles. My stars there can’t be a better dish unless, you make a warm strawberry sauce to go over it instead of syrup. I know it sounds weird but, you experience a little bit of heaven when you bite into it for the first time. Had been seeing that recipe on several cooking shows and thought it couldn’t be that good. Well actually it is better than good. You must try it. Have fun! Thanks for posting. Hope we get the next chapter fairly quickly. Thanks.

Hey MLL, I really do love the ponderous pace of this story as it allows the best of all the characters to be seen and heard. Dana was a real sweetheart as she obviously listened to Tina’s dilemma and then provided great useful advice. Pity the same can’t be said of Alice. She just steams in head first, says whatever pops into her head and then gets the hell out of Dodge. This is a completely entertaining and loveable trait when reading these tales however it can be overpowering in reality. Another good aspect of this is the ability to hit the truth. This chat made Bette reassess her own behaviour and demands of Tina in the beginning. I do hope that this paves the way for some open and honest communicating between these lovers. Each is beginning to appreciate the depth of emotion they share and the wondrous possibilities that this partnership might bring. Tina has been put is a bloody awful position by her boss but I am sure that telling Bette will help her decide a plan of attack and the best way to stick it to him. Let the talking times roll. Yep, still on the road again, but today, a long stop over of two days. Well it can be fun, but it can be tiring some time, but since I love traveling, I can deal with it. Just fifteen more days and it will be over with this artist. Then back to Europe and waiting for next Tour and getting time to work on my album. Well I ate so much Ice cream the last time, I was sick on sound check because of you. But since I had 4 hours to wait before live performance I slept a little. All matter because of you and that story. Well I hope that the pain won’t last long, cause my stomach won’t take it. Happy to hear about you, thanks for update.
