    Prologue

“No I don’t want to wait … I want if off … I want it off now!!” she practically screams her frustration at life’s cruelty.

    ***

Bette Porter sat in front of her bedroom window in meditation while her infant daughter Angelica Kennard napped. She’s trying to find peace but her mind is in turmoil reliving the recent argument she’d had with her lesbian partner Angelica’s birth mother Tina Kennard.

Through a series of happenstance in the previous couple of months before Angelica’s birth Bette and Tina experienced a paradigm shift in their relationship which resulted in much discord between them; now it seemed that all they ever did was argue.

The plan had been for Tina to be the stay at home mom while Bette provided the financial support for the family, however on the day of her daughter’s birth not only had Bette buried her father Melvin Porter who’d succumbed to his bout with prostate cancer, but she was also fired from her position as the Director of the California Arts Center (CAC).

Now six months later Bette was still passionately unemployed and Tina not trusting Bette to take care of their family had resumed her career working full time as a Development Executive for a movie studio run by her ex-lover and Bette’s nemesis Helena Peabody.

Not only was Helena Tina’s ex-lover but she’d been in cahoots with Franklin; the chairman of the CAC board of directors to deliberately sabotage Bette’s career and livelihood which resulted in her dismissal. Needless to say these circumstances served to widen the rift in their already strained relationship; resentment and consternation abounded.

‘Someone in this family has got to make a living.’

‘I’ve been making a living for the last 15 years Tina. I don’t think my ability to make a living is really in question.’

‘I’m not questioning your ability Bette. I’m questioning your desire.’

Suddenly the silence in the room is interrupted by the constant beeping of Tina’s laptop computer. In her rush to be out of the house that morning Tina had left it sitting on the bed. Bette is alerted that there is a new message by the incessant tone that even the voices inside her head can’t tune out. She tried to ignore it but can’t. She frustratingly gets up from her meditative pose on the floor to turn it off before it wakes the baby.

    1. I love that you repost a story again, but i totally hate season three. Tina was a terrible bitch and that is the nicest description.
But i am in for the journey.

    2. Finally you are reposting this story! I don’t think that you remember, but not long ago I’ve asked you if you would continue this dramatic but beautiful story.I’m happy and thankful for it!!

      • Guiga, I wasn’t planning to re-post my old stories but changed my mind. I appreciate that you remembered this one and asked for it. It was a beautiful story even though it started out badly. There were a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t expect while I was writing it. It took on a life of it’s own as many stories do. I hope you enjoy the second time around.

    3. Thank you die-hard readers for sticking with me. You will come to love Tina again, but it’s going to take a few chapters and a lot of heartbreak before that happens. I think I made her out to be even worse in this story than she was on the show; but as I said I had to break them in order to rebuild them. This will be hard to take in daily doses so I will post once a week.

    4. I don’t know if I can take this one BAT. The cancer story is too near to home for me and personally been revived too recently.
I cried all through Series 3 and in my opinion the story should have had Dana surviving and the drama been around that survival.
I didn’t want to but I hated Tina in Series 3 and I will find that hard to relive.
As you know I am also, a ‘tenderhearted Tibetter’
However I will be giving you a try, perhaps once a week will not be too bad although I love the daily post.
Try and lay off the cliffhangers !!

      • Hey SassyGran. Thanks for your comment. I’m sorry to hear of your personal cancer story. This was a difficult period to revisit on the show. I was actually inspired to write this story as my way of ‘fixing’ some of the tragic events that took place in S3. Dana’s storyline is similar to the show, but in mine she does survive and she has a lot of support, friendship and love to get her through. My reason for having Dana’s cancer story parallel Bette and Tina’s was to create a bonding experience between the two women. I was very touched by the scene where Dana was in Bette’s bedroom after she blew up at Lara, and Bette helped her to release her anger through meditation. There were a few other snippets during the show’s run that made me think they could have been better friends. You will see that bond blossom in this story. Thanks for giving it a try.

        • You saying that Dana survives will ensure I continue to read as will the fact that you add with ‘a lot of support, friendship and love’ because this is the only way to get through Cancer. I agree with your thoughts on Bette and Dana’s relationship in particular taking her to that ‘special place’ in her mind.
Life is never the same after Cancer but it is better than the alternative.

    5. Hey Bat, first of all let me apologize for not commenting on your repost of Out of the mouth of Babes, but I was so far behind with trying to catch up with your posts that I couldn’t make it before you posted the last chapter.

So glad you decided to repost this incredible story and still hope you are going to finish it. Really looking forward to the journey you are going to take us with this story. Thanks so much for sharing your exceptional talent with us.

    6. Ok !! I will embark with you on this trip Bat.
It was a real pain the third season, it was terrible!
      however, I managed to survive.
Glad to hear that Dana will survive the cancer was
very sad IC killing this character, in my opinion,
if she had made Dana is a cancer survivor, would have a major
      message that we can survive.
Tibette am and I will follow it.
      The complete constellation.
      Bear hug

    7. Phew, s3 rewrite? Well, I’ll definitely give your story a go because I disliked so much what they did with the show on Tv that all you’ll do to change the course of s3 will be better than what I saw. I’m definitely in!

And if you say you’ll try to make Tina at least a little bit more real and less hateable then I already love your story.
I’ve fasten my seatbelt and anxiously wait for the next part. Go for it!

    8. I was never a Dana fan but I’ll be damn if I didn’t go through 2 fat ass rolls of Charmain toilet tissue……it was snot and tears everywhere! Season 3 Tina showed her ass I’m hooked looking forward to part 2
