Tina watched as her brother walked out the door. She didnt have much time to process what had happened because as he was walking out, Bette was walking in. Bette noticed Tinas blank expression and made her way over to her.

Bette: T? You alright? she asked with concern.

Tina: Yeah baby Im fine. Bens just being weird thats all.

Bette wasnt sure if she should tell Tina about what had taken place earlier this morning. eh, hes probably just stressed she reasoned in her head. Bette put a reassuring arm around her girlfriends shoulder and let her to an empty table.

Tina: I love the planet on Fridays, its so laid back she smiled as she pulled a chair out.

Bette: As do I she smiled and reached for Tinas hand. So tell me again how you got outed at work

Tina: Well Brenda, my secretary, no I dont like to call her that, shes more like my assistant. Sweet lady, Id say shes about fifty five or so, maybe sixty.

Bette loved it when Tina would start to ramble. Usually when people would ramble to Bette, which was often, she knew how to block it out and pretend to pay attention. Tina was different, for her it was almost endearing. It didnt matter how crowded it was or where they were, to Bette, they were the only people in the room. Bette sat back and smiled as Tina continued.

Tina: Anyway, she asked if I was dating anyone because every time I come back from lunch I seem a lot happier. So I told her I was in love she finished with a huge grin on her face.

Bette: What a coincidence, im in love too she smiled as she leaned over the table pressing her lips to Tinas.

Just as the romantic moment had begun it was gone with the sound of Alices voice.

Alice: God get a room you two she joked as she sat down.

Bette pulled her lips from Tinas and dropped her head.

Alice: Dont get too excited to see me Porter. She leaned over and patted her friend on the back. Hey Tina, I havent seen you in a few days.

Tina: Yeah, how are you?

Alice: Im good, im good. So, your broth-

Alice was instantly cut off by Bettes foot hitting her shin.

Alice: Ooww, what the ***** she yelled as she rubbed her throbbing leg.

Bette gave Alice the look, the look that said if you dont shut up im going to cut you, look.

Tina: You ok? What happened? she asked with sympathy and confusion.

Alice gave Bette an evil look and turned to Tina. She wasnt sure why Bette was stopping her from what she was about to say but she obeyed for fear of losing her leg all together.

Alice: Yeah, yeah im ok, I guess I got a twitch or something. Maybe I should get that checked out

Bette: Yeah maybe you should.

Tina: Ok well im gonna go get some food, what do you want babe? she asked as she stood up.

Alice turned her head towards Bette with a sly grin on her face.

Bette: Uh, can you just get me some fruit, doesnt matter what kind.

Tina: Thats all you want?

Bette: Yeah thats it she smiled.

Tina: Alice? You good, you need anything?

Alice: Uh she looked around at nothing in particular. No thank im good right now

Bette watched Tina walk away then turned to Alice.

Bette: What? she couldnt help but smile at Alices ridiculous expression.

Alice: Babe? Already? Seriously? she crossed her arms and leaned back.

Bette: Shut up

Alice: Who are you and what have you done with Bette Porter? she leaned towards Bette and searched her face is if she were looking for signs of a mask.

Bette: Get outta here she laughed swatting her quirky friend away.

Alice: So why the ***** did you kick me you freak?

Bette: I dont want Tina stressing about anything that may turn out to be nothing.

Alice: O.k she was slightly confused.

Bette: Just dont say anything about this morning with Ben

Alice: Alright, I was just gonna say he looked like *****, but youre the boss, I wont say a word

Bette: Somehow I dont know if I believe that but I appreciate the effort. She leaned up and squeezed Alices hand.

As Tina arrived with the food, Alice began to gather her belongings.

Alice: So, what are you guys doing tonight? she stood up and put on her sun glasses.

Bette: I have an art talk tonight at eight

Tina: Thats tonight? he voice laced with disappointment.

Bette: Yeah, remember I told you on Wednesday

Tina: Oh yeah

Bette: I should be out of there around ten though

Alice: Ok, so.Tina, Ill pick you up around eight thirty and Bette, you can just meet us at Milk when youre done her tone was insistent.

Tina: Yeah ok, that sounds good to me

Bette: Yeah, ok. She agreed

Alice: Wow that was easier than I thought she smiled. Ok then I will see you ladies later.

Bette and Tina filled the rest of their lunch hour with some light conversation mixed in with a few loving gazes, of course. As promised Bette followed Tina back to Alphaville where her presence was requested.


-Alphaville-

As Bette followed Tina down the quiet hallway she couldnt help but notice how ***** the young blonde looked just walking. If it were up to Bette right now, they wouldnt be anywhere near Alphaville. They would be in Bettes bed and Tina would be in her arms. As they rounded the corner to Tinas office Bette felt her temperature rise, all those thoughts about being in bed made her want Tina bad. Not that she didnt already want Tina; she just didnt know how much longer she could go without her.

Tina: Huh, she must still be at lunch she said standing at the empty desk. Wanna see my office? she raised her eyebrows suggestively and smiled as she opened the door.

Bette: Oh dont tease me she replied in a hushed tone as she walked Tina backwards in to her office, keeping only inches between them.

Bette kicked the door closed with her foot and pressed her lips against Tinas. Tina eagerly accepted Bettes advance as she brought her hands to her lovers face and deepened the kiss.

Bette and Tina both froze instantly when they heard the sound of someone clearing their throat. Tina opened her eyes and slowly pulled away from Bette. Tina turned around to see Brenda standing behind her desk with scripts in her hand.

Brenda: This must be Bette she said with a smile.

Tina turned ten shades of red instantly; her palms began to sweat as she felt nervous laughter rising in her stomach.

Tina: Uh yeah, this is Bette.

Bette also smiled through the outrageously embarrassing moment. Way to go jack ***** she silently berated herself.

Brenda: Nice to meet you Bette, Im Brenda

Bette: Yeah nice to meet you too she shook the womans hand then quickly retreated back behind her imaginary invisible shield.

Brenda: Well, I was just dropping off some scripts for you and Ive got a million other things to do so I should be going. She was intrigued by Bette and wanted to know more about the woman who snatched sweet little Tinas heart but she defiantly didnt want to interrupt anything.

Brenda turned to Tina just before walked out the door and whispered I know what its like to be young dear; perhaps well get better acquainted at another time. She gave Tina a wink before closing the door behind her.

As the door shut Tina let out a deep breath she didnt even know she was holding.

Bette: I like your office she smiled as she leaned up against the desk. And you have a beautiful view

Tina: You have no idea she smiled not taking her eyes off of Bette.

Bette: I guess I should be getting back to work

Tina walked over to Bette and wrapped her arms around the beautiful brunettes neck. Bette smiled and pulled Tina closer as she wrapped her arms around her lovers small frame.

Tina: thanks for having lunch with me today she said in between light kisses

Bette: The pleasures all mine.

Bette pulled Tina in for a passionate kiss before breaking away.

Bette: So I guess Ill see you tonight then.

Tina: Yeah

They said goodbye and Tina walked Bette outside.
