Real Love – Chapter Twenty Four

    -Tina’s Apartment-

Tina began to stir just as the first rays of the morning sun crept across the cool hardwood floor of her bedroom. Tina leaned up and rubbed her eyes and she looked at the alarm clock. “Huh, 6:58. Two minutes early” she smiled. Tina loved waking up before the alarm; somehow it made her believe it was an omen of a good day. She crawled out of bed and stretched her rejuvenated body. “What to wear, what to wear” she repeated as she sifted though her closet. After ten minutes of deliberation Tina finally picked an outfit and headed towards the shower.

Tina grabbed her keys and gathered some various work item’s then headed outside. The smell of freshly cut grass and blooming flowers filled the young blondes senses as she made her way across the street to her car.

    -The Planet-

Bette loved going to the planet on Friday mornings. Friday was the day when all the slackers would reveal themselves; the usual fast paced caffeine addicted crowed was replaced by those who strongly believed Friday should be a part of the weekend. There was the college kids, who were usually glued to their laptops trying to get a paper done that should have been done days ago. The gossipers and party girls, they were annoying sometimes but they always knew where the hot spots were going to be. Then there was Alice.

Bette smiled at her friend as she walked over to the table. Alice waved her over quickly and instructed Bette to sit down.

Bette: “What?” she said pulling out a chair.

Alice: “What’s up with him?” she was pointing at Ben who was sitting at a corner table with his laptop in front of him.

Bette: “Uh I don’t know Al, maybe he wanted coffee.” she was completely confused.

Alice: “He’s been staring at his computer since I got here. Every few minutes he gets up and has a cigarette outside then goes right back to the table. He looks like *****.”

Bette: “Maybe he’s got a lot of work to do, he’s a college student. Didn’t you ever look like *****?”
