Two women stood at two front doors not so far away from each other. It was hard to tell which was more nervous. The deeds that they had both done would be seen by many as unforgivable. But behind every wrong doing must be some kind of explanation.

Shane ran her fingers through her tussled hair as she put out her cigarette with her shoe. She had never been one for facing her actions, but then she’d also never been one for falling in love. All she felt now was utter confusion. How she’d got so close to someone, so attached, and then done what she did best – run away. She loved Carmen, and Carmen had loved her. That was never in doubt. What she doubted was herself, and her ability to commit. And seeing her similarities to her father, well that had just been a wake up call. She loved Carmen too much to spend a life time treating her the way her father treated Carla. But she also loved Carmen too much to spend a life time without her. Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door and leant against the frame.

Holding Angelica under her arm, Bette stood outside the house that had been her home for so many years. Usually one so composed, she had no idea what she was supposed to do or say. The threat of losing a child, well that could drive people to do all sorts of crazy things. But Tina and her had just been getting back on good terms. And now she quite possibly had destroyed all chances of them ever sharing the upbringing of their daughter. All Bette had ever wanted was a family, and now any chance of that seemed to be falling away. With a shaking hand she reached up to ring the bell.

“Shane….what the fuck?” Carmen’s eyes widened in simultaneous shock and anger as she saw the slim figure stood in the doorway.

“Baby, please”

“How fucking dare you call me that? Do you have any idea…”

“Carmen just let me in, please”

“Do you really think I have anything to say to you?” Carmen was shaking with anger.

“Maybe not, but I have a lot I need to say to you”
