Chapter 25
"We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have." Frederick Keonig
Bette shifted in her airplane seat restless and uncomfortable. The three of them were flying home on a commercial flight, Shane and Alice catching an earlier flight and probably home by now. As tired as she was her mind couldn’t turn off. The last forty eight hours saw her world turn up-side down and then right it self again. The real kick in the teeth of it all was that the whole episode could have been prevented. That she had precipitated this misery and in the end needed to rely on others to make it through had almost been the end of her.
Glancing to her right her eyes fell on the only sight that could ease her wondering mind. Angelica and Tina sat next to her with their eyes closed leaning into each other. They were on a commercial flight home sitting in coach so that the three of them could sit side by side by side, together. They had to wait longer for a flight empty enough to accommodate this need.
The two women, who hold her heart in their hands, sleeping contently beside her was her wish from the beginning of this fiasco and to see this gave her a sense of peace after all the upheaval. Usually Bette would have gotten First Class accommodations for their trip home but the idea of separating one of them from the other two was unbearable. She would rather sacrifice the leg room than be separated even if it was just by an aisle.
Whatever cosmic forces dictate this life she was living, Bette firmly believed now more than ever that whatever lessons you are on this earth to learn that these forces keep presenting situations in your life. These situations force you to deal with different variations of the same problem till you learn the lesson and learn it well. Why else would she keep making the same mistake over and over again? Crossing herself she silently made a promise to God above that finally the message has been received and she has learned the lesson that she can’t control everything. She wanted above all else to not involve her family in any more of her lessons. For the most part it was not playing fair but still it was enough of a shake up to reinforce the message and finally, hopefully for the last time drive it home.

First, thank you for saving Dan! I appreciate that! This story was simply amazing. I know it has to end, but rest assured I’ll be reading anything that you decide to write and post. You’re an amazing writer J….come back to us when you’re ready!
Thank you for such an exciting, warm and wonderful story. I look forward to the next one. Take care of yourself.
I for one enjoyed the happy ending. I am sure that Angie is scarred for life but knowing that she survived this ordeal gives her a foot up on most people. She is a fighter and would not give up hope. I was glad to read that Dan was able to meet and talk to Bette and Tina and for Dan to also know how terrifying it was for Angie to watch him getting knocked off the tower. With you new story please do not keep B&T apart for long.
Even in FF you find yourself thanks The God upabove for the life that was spared. Dan and Angies. Being a parent is hard. You are a Mother before anything else. Thanks so much for this wonderful written story. Hey Lady I was born in Dallas been here for a long time except for my husband being in the service. A lot of time wasn’t with him. We carry a spray bottle of water in the car Just spray the inside ,the car is so hot the water is gone and the car is 15 degrees Cooler. thanks
Thanks for writing this great story.
Jwet an amazing story and one showing all the love for our girls and the family. All of Bette’s good intentions did not go to waste but it was an experience that no one wants to have especially for a child. Angie and her family have learned a very valuable lesson, most especially Bette. We can not always control every situation we find ourselves in. We should just give it up to the spirit most high and let him take care of everything. Please write something else for us when you can, I really do enjoy your writing and stories. A little angst but always much love and understanding. Have a rest.
The only sad thing is that your story has come to an end. Thanks so much! Glad you got to stay home, I’ll catch you next time you’re in NYC.
Yey!!! You made my eyes tear up! This story was sweet, and touching, and thrilling, all at the same time…….I twist your arm and get this great story. You twist my arm and nothing happens! Uh, I think I got the better end of that!! LOL Thanks J.

Hey JWET…Thanks for the kind words. It’s always fun to bounce around your ideas for a story or chapter. You are a truly gifted writer and it continualy amazes how you can take the ‘bounced around ideas’ and turn them into a story that flows effortlessly, taking us through all the highs and lows of our favorite characters. I have been blessed to be able to involved in your creations! Ha…if my high school English teacher could see me now…an “editor” when I had such trouble with writing & grammer!!! Get some R&R and post your next story soon. Take Care!

Predictable? Yes, but when it’s good, it don’t matter; it’s good! I had tears even though I know you’ll reunite the family. It’s like the classics, when it’s well written, it’s enjoyable reading! Thank you. I just hope you write/post another story; and very soon! Aloha!
JWet, Thank you so much for this fabulous fan fiction. It has scalesd the heights and depths of emotions. Showing how wonderful and terrifying love can be. Everything that the gang have been through has left they stronger than before. Most pleasing was Bette’s epiphany that she cannot control the world but has to go with it. I hope that this lesson will stay with her and provide a mantra for the rest of her life. Family is everything; love and communication are the mortar that hold it all together. JWet, as always you have pricked my heart and soul with these superb scenes. Thank you so much, Your Loyal Fan.
