    Reunion Challenge…I Never Should Have Taken Her From You

    A new set of tears made their way down her now sensitive cheeks as Tina’s focused rubbing caused Angelica to wonder why her mother was clearly desperate for her not to look like the light skinned blonde…which caused the little girl’s heart to hurt.

    Finally hearing her daughters words, Tina stopped and quickly wrapped her daughter in her arms.

    "Oh sweetheart. I am not mad."

    "You’re not?"

    "No baby. I love you just the way you are, and I don’t want you to change one single thing."

    Angelica stared into the mirror, looking back and forth between the two of them.

    "Why did you do it mom? Why did you make me be born knowing I could never look like you…why?"

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "Bette Porter."
    "Baby Sis, you are never going to guess what happened today!"
    Smiling at the excited sound of her sister’s voice, Bette leaned back in her leather chair. "What?" She asked enthusiastically.
    "They are giving me a Grammy for lifetime achievement!"
    "Oh Kit, that’s wonderful! And, it’s about time if you ask me."
    "And, guess what else?"
    Bette couldn’t help but laugh at how giddy her big sister sounded.
    "What?"
    "They are letting me choose who I want to present me with the award. Isn’t that great!?"
    "Kit, I am so proud of you! With all that you have contributed to the music industry over the last twenty years…well, like I said, it is about time you received some recognition. I am sure that Michael will do a great job of presenting it to you."
    Bette smiled again thinking about Kit’s partner. They had met when Kit was recording her second to last CD. He was a sound technician, and their relationship had started off as friends, but quickly grew into a powerful love. They had moved in together after only three months, and even though Kit was still adamant in her refusal to get legally married, they were married in every other way possible.
    "What? No. Bette, you know that I consider Michael to be the love of my life. But baby, I wouldn’t even have a life if it wasn’t for you. You are the one who helped me through my lowest of lows. You were the one that celebrated with me my highest of highs. And, we both know that it was because of your encouragement that I went back to the studio eight years ago."
    "But Kit…" Bette interrupted.
    "No Bette. You are who I want to give this award to me. You and me baby sis…just like always…you and me."
    1. I really like this beginning. I take it that B & T are not together and that Bette may not be a part of Angie’s life. Or that Angie is ashamed of looking more like B than T, eh? Sea….In your hands, this story can only soar. PPS.
    2. WELCOME BACK SEA! I’m sad to see Angie like this and worst of all it seems like Bette may not be a part of her life. Angie needs her Mama B right about now. I’m happy for Kit! Grammy….yeah!
    3. Poor Angie…Poor Bette…to be seperated and not in each other’s lives. Will Angelica see Bette on the Grammy Awards and get curious. I am curious now…please post soon. It’s a good day when you write Seahurst. Thank you.
    4. Hi Seahurst. Fantastic to have you back posting and a new story. The powers that be do answer some prayers then. Am jumping with joy at your return. Big question is whether or not Bette and Tina are together in any way shape or form. It does read like they aren’t but as the hopeful romantic I am, I want this story to recify this tragedy. I love your wonderful blend of humor and pathos as Tina tries to comfort her child while explaining their physical differences. Kit’s news was phenomenal and even more so as she spread it across the family. Can’t wait to see where this journey leads but my bags are packed and ready to go. Thank you so much for an interesting beginning. Your Loyal Fan.
    5. I have been waiting for you to write something. You are so talented and I can’t wait to read anything you write. This story is going to be as good as everything else you have written.pps
    6. Sea… its always a pleasure seeing you name on a story….i’m so glad you writing again… and it looks like another winner… i hope bette and tina can find what they gave up… each other… PPS
    7. O.o WOW! :D Im so glad you’re in this with me, sea! I have to say I was a little bit afraid noone would wanna join me… There are so many stories to be told, and one scenario can lead to thousands of different stories! I allready know Im going to love this one… Heartbreaking: Angelica and the make-up. Heartjumping: Kit asking Bette for the award… Now I wonder… Is there a Henry? Thanks for this amazing start! And thanks so much joining me :)
    8. I feel bad for Angelica…sounds like she has been out of Bette’s life. Seahurst..it is wonderful to see you post and can’t wait for more of this story..I will continue to pray for Snow in Seattle. : )
    9. Another story by Seahurst!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are one of my most favorite writers. I will read anything you write even if it makes me cry and I don’t cry easy (but you manage to make a big cry baby out of me). This is a great start and I feel for Angie. As you may know, the color of skin in the African-American community has always had it own issues (light vs dark) and that with two African-American parents. I’m sure being bi-racial and living with only one predominant image can have its own issues to be addressed. Looking forward to see where you go with this.
    10. So glad to see that you are writing for us again. I’ve often thought about the longterm effect on Angelica if Tina chose to renege on her promise to Bette. I am happy to see this theme explored in your story. Thanks. Lin
    11. Do I hear some regret coming from Tina? Does she somewhere in her heart harbor some sort of love for Angelica’s other mother Bette? I can’t wait to read what is going to happen next. I would find it interesting to read how Tina takes the viewing of her once wife and lover on the tv screen while they sat and watched Angelica’s favorite singer receive her Grammy.
    12. Oh poor Angie, sad to see her like this, I guess she not know Bette and B&T are not together, now let see how Tina explain this to Angie. Happy for Kit. OK post soon please, thanks!
    13. Wow so sad for that poor baby to feel that way. Parents should think more about their children feelings before they go making life decisions…if she would just kept Bette around Angie wouldn’t be putting makeup on smh
