This time is was Tina’s turn to stare at Alice. She wondered how she could put into words what, and how, she was feeling. She felt torn. She knew that it would be a good idea to talk to someone and yet she knew how far back Alice and Bette went. She also understood though that Alice knew Bette better than anyone, maybe even Tina.
“Are you guys OK? There’s nothing that I should be worried about is there?” asked Alice, now feeling very uneasy.
“I don’t think so. I don’t really know.” said Tina, the confusion written all over her face.
“What’s prompted this Tina? You guys always seemed so happy.”
“Maybe I’m just a little scared that I’m too much in love with her.” said Tina, desperately not wanting to tell Alice the reason for her confusion.
“No, that’s not it. You’re not the kind of person who thinks that you can be too much in love with someone, You’re the kind of person that believes in love a little too much. That’s why you left Eric. It was only love that you would have made that jump for.”
“I’m beginning to think that it’s not just Bette that you know very well.”
“Just tell me what’s wrong Tina. It can’t be that bad, and I know that you think that I’ll go around gossiping about it, but I won’t. I promise.
“You have to promise.”
“I just did, didn’t I?” asked Alice, wishing her reputation didn’t proceed her.
“I’m being serious Alice. This could really affect what happens between Bette and me.”
“I know you are, and the more you build it up the more worried I’m becoming.”
“You know Shane, you met her last night.”
“You haven’t?” said Alice, putting her hand to her mouth in shock.
“No, I haven’t. What do you take me for?” replied Tina, worried that Alice was far closer to the truth than she wanted to admit herself.
“But you want to. That’s what the problem is, isn’t it?” said Alice, knowing that she had hit the jackpot.
“I haven’t acted on it. I can’t I’m with Bette. I love her and I don’t believe in cheating.”
“Would it be appropriate for me to give you the Bette Porter lecture on monogamy right now?” asked Alice, trying to introduce some levity into proceeding.

well, damn…shane is going to be a trouble because she is into tina as well…maybe alice needs to talk to bette and mention that she needs to spend more time with tina instead of the gallery

Tina’s confided in Alice, so she really *must* be worried. Sometimes verbalizing it makes it worse… but it’s still not as severe as acting on it. Thanks for this post, CG, and I’m really looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks
