Seemingly Lost Chptr. 16
“.. and Bette?” she asked with eyes still searching the ground as she listened intently to her daughter’s ordeal.
“And Bette, What? She’s as far as I know still in L.A. I haven’t called her momma.”
“Well that is obvious Sweetie, what I’m saying is what are you gonna do, she’s still your best friend, is she not?” To this question Tina sighed a few breaths of apprehension and continued to walk. “Regardless of what you still feel at the moment darlin’ she still is the one person who had your best interest at heart when you look at things from the back end.”
“Momma she was supposed to be the one telling me about Justine’s indiscretions not covering them up for her. I mean what the hell kind of a friend lets your fiancée cheat on you!”
“I agree her decision was a bit misguided but Sweetie you’re really gonna lose a good friend because she wanted to keep you from getting hurt? Seems like the type of friends you ought to be hanging onto, there aren’t that many out there like that.” her mother’s voice was magnetic like and very poignant, she had a way of saying things that she knew would stick in your mind for days. One of the tricks from being a Preacher’s daughter, the power of an influential voice. Her mother linked arms with her again and continued her walk back to the property, she figured by now that the boys were under the car pointing out things that needed to be changed with the car.
When they got back sure enough there was her brother and father under her car pointing out things that they would’ve done differently had they been allowed to have the car.
“If you don’t get out that dirt in the pants I just bought you…” this sudden stern voice caused her father to scurry from under the car and try and smooth the wrinkles from his clothes. “Every time I buy new clothes he always gets grease stains on them, like what I say don’t matter…” she continued her own conversation up the stairs and in to the house, ranting to no one in particular. Tina laughed internally a little bit at how a man with such a large presence and commanding voice could jump so quickly at the sound of her mother’s voice.
