Shadows In The Dark – A Writers Challenge
“When I agreed to fly across the continent it was to see New York, what the hell are Bette and Tina doing up in this god forsaken neck of the woods for?”
Alice was in the back of the car moaning, which she had been doing for the last hour, making it easy for the others to tune her out. Helena was driving the rental car along the highway. Helena looked at Shane who was studying the map on her knees before looking back at Alice.
“Alice you have hardly been slumming it. My mother’s jet dropped us off and we have been in this comfortable car ever since and I have not even hit a pot hole, mainly because I am aware of how much alcohol and food we are carrying in the back on the car.”
“Just be quiet Alice, we’ll be there in about 30 minutes, “ Shane said grinning at Helena.
“Where is this Hicksville place anyway?”

For what seemed like the first time Alice peered out of the window. It was getting dusk, but the light was still decent. Helena shook her head at Shane and switched her attention back to the road. There weren’t many cars around, but this was unfamiliar territory to Helena, and she liked to give her full attention to where she was going rather than listen to Alice’s bitching.
“Do you think we got enough supplies?” Alice asked to Helena.
“Sure, I don’t imagine this place is going to be short of much. Can you see either Bette or Tina not being ultra organized, especially where it pertains to Angie?”
“No, it sure will be good to see them again. Six months has just flown by. I wonder how much they have all changed.“
Shane looked down at the map as she thought about it all-six months. It seemed so long ago that the whole gang had been shattered by events – Jenny’s death, Tasha’s betrayal of Alice and subsequent moving away to another part of LA, and Bette and Tina’s move to New York to live and work. It had left the three of them to grow closer, but while it was good for all three of them to have such a strong bond, it was obvious that they all missed the couple that had been the core of their group – Bette Porter and Tina Kennard.

OK, I can tell this will be a wild ride! I’m in! PPS
Oh this is good fun. Something like a lesbian version of “The big Chill”! Looking forward to the next writers contribution.
I do believe that it was a truly GREAT (or should I say excellent?) idea to let different writers create a story together!!!!it will be so capturing to follow the storyline and discover the diferences in each writer’s personality…:)
To AllyE, Great beginning to a fabulous fan fiction. I just adore the idea of some many wonderful writers each followiong this thread yet putting their on spin on it.Batter up…Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

Great stuff Ally, this is gonna be interesting…….so onwards please :o)xx
Fun set up Alley!!- you’ve left a lot of room to play with while setting the stage beautifully. Batter up!

Oh this soumds like fun cant wait to read more.
Great start.Thank you.
This should be fun. Just imagine being stranded with Alice for days on end. Hope they have a good supply of masking tape for her mouth. And she doesn’t know that they are stranded in an area that has bear sightings. That should keep her going for days on end or at least until the booze is gone.
ohhh…interesting concept…looking forward to the round robin of authors!! Great idea to inject interests to readers and writers!
This should be a fun trip. Some of the writers are going to have a field day with this one. I’ll be tuning in. With all the liquor at least they’ll stay hydrated. And in house entertainment by Ms Alice P.
ally, what a great start! The pages just flew by. I lived not too far from Bear Mountain State Park about 25 years ago. It is a beautiful area. NEXT!!!!!!
What a wonderful thing, favorite writers writing about my favorite family. Relocating is difficult and I am about to do it again
