Shadows In The Dark – A Writers Challenge

It took 40 minutes before Helena stopped the car in front of a large wooden lodge type building.  She climbed out of the car and took in the clean air and the view, which was of a lake, and across to the mountains – it was spectacular.  There was a covering of snow on the mountains and it took on the appearance of something from a travel brochure.  Helena was impressed.  Shane climbed out of the car and took in the same view.

“That is some view,“ Shane said.

“Sure is,“ Helena agreed, “Have you noticed how quiet it is?“

“It won’t be when Alice drags her ass out of the car.“

    “HEY THERE!“

Helena and Alice turned to see Tina standing on the porch. She hurried down the steps and ran across.

“God its so good to see you!”

Tina jumped at Shane and hugged her, “I have missed all of you so much.”

    “Let me look at you.“

Tina grinned as she turned to Helena.

    “You look good Tina.“

“So do you.“ Helena and Tina hugged.

Alice got out of the car and soon joined in the embraces, “So where is Porter?”

“She’s driven into Garrison Pond to get some milk and extra food with Angie.“

Alice raised her eyebrow,  “Garrison Pond!  What sort of place have you dragged us out to?”

“It’s wonderful and we have had a fantastic time,“ Tina defended herself.   “We’ve been looking forward to seeing the three of you for ages.  I have missed all of you.“

Helena thought that Tina looked fantastic, she had let her shoulder length blonde hair grow and it was tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing jeans and a thick black sweater.  She really did look like her new life suited her. Tina took hold of Shane’s hand and just kept smiling.

“Bette is looking forward to seeing you and all Angie can talk about is seeing the three of you again – have you got much luggage?“

Helena sprung open the trunk of the car to reveal what they had brought with them, “More food and beer rather than clothing.“

    1. I do believe that it was a truly GREAT (or should I say excellent?) idea to let different writers create a story together!!!!it will be so capturing to follow the storyline and discover the diferences in each writer’s personality…:)

    2. To AllyE, Great beginning to a fabulous fan fiction. I just adore the idea of some many wonderful writers each followiong this thread yet putting their on spin on it.Batter up…Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    3. This should be fun. Just imagine being stranded with Alice for days on end. Hope they have a good supply of masking tape for her mouth. And she doesn’t know that they are stranded in an area that has bear sightings. That should keep her going for days on end or at least until the booze is gone.

    4. This should be a fun trip. Some of the writers are going to have a field day with this one. I’ll be tuning in. With all the liquor at least they’ll stay hydrated. And in house entertainment by Ms Alice P.

    5. ally, what a great start! The pages just flew by. I lived not too far from Bear Mountain State Park about 25 years ago. It is a beautiful area. NEXT!!!!!!
