Chapter 31
New York – 2000
Tina was overwhelmed and confused. There was Eric on kneeling down on one knee, with a beautiful ring and a beautiful speech, asking her to marry him. That was the moment that most of the straight women she knew always expected, what most women dreamt about even when they were little girls: to have a knight in shining armour asking them to marry him, with a romantic setting and a loving speech.
But not Tina, she was starting to feel uncomfortable with the situation from the moment Eric started his speech, even though it was sweet and she knew it was coming from his heart, she thought he was acting selfishly by putting her on the spot like that. They were after all in a public place and she noticed people starting staring at them even before Eric went down on his knee. So what should she do? Say no? It wasn’t fair the position she found herself in.
“Baby?” She heard Eric’s voice calling her back to earth. She locked eyes with him.
“Will you? Will you marry me?” Eric was growing in anxiety, he suddenly felt confused and scared that Tina may actually say no. He always thought this was what every girl wanted for a proposal.
“Oh god… Eric…” Tina softly said.
“I love you… what else is there to think about? I wanna spend the rest of my life with you” He quickly said, realizing he was loosing her.
“I… I need time to think about it… I didn’t see this coming Eric… isn’t it a little too soon?” The blonde rationalized.
“Look baby… just say yes and I promise you’ll have all the time in the world to think about it ok?” He was feeling uncomfortable and disappointed, of all the possible out comings he had pictured in his head, this was certainly not one of them.
