The Senator looked at Bette again, her eyes were filled with incredible desire, and she moved down Bette’s body between her legs. She opened Bette and used her tongue to stimulate her even more.
“Hold on,” she growled, knowing that Bette was close. “Hold on.”
And Bette gritted her teeth and held on until she knew she couldn’t anymore. Somehow Barbara knew exactly when that point was reached and entered Bette smoothly and powerfully and they thrust forward and back in perfect rhythm, as though they had done this many times with each other.
Bette came hard and hard and hardand the Senator joined her.
She lay on top of Bette briefly and then rolled to the side, bringing Bette with her. She pulled Bette’s face to her breasts and Bette snuggled contently against her warm softness. The Senator had been a powerful, incredible lover and now she was comforting Bette like a child. And Bette needed both things.

“Ma’m?”
Bette looked up and saw the flight attendant. She shook her head to dislodge the fantasy.
“Ma’m? Do you want something to drink?”
“Oh, yes. A beer,” Bette managed.
As the stewardess marked down her order, Bette changed her mind.
“Bring two beers,” she corrected herself, holding up two fingers.
As she waited for the two beers, she thought about the scene that had just played out in her head. She had wanted sex desperately, but had turned the Senator down, graciously, she hoped.

“The only thing I want more than you right now is for my girlfriend to want me like you do.”
Bette had turned down the Senator with these words, had kissed her on the cheek and left.
Back in her hotel room, she showered— she had been very wet. She had wanted the senator so badly, but had stopped. It was what she should have done with Candace. She might still have her life if she’d stopped then.
She wondered if this would atone for anything. She certainly felt better, but did it matter?
On a hunch, she had someone at the hotel desk check with the airline and found it was possible for her to get a flight out of DC that night. By midnight she was on the airplane and was waiting for her two beers.
“Ma’m?” Bette looked up at the stewardess again.
“You’re Bette Porter?” And Bette acknowledged that she was.
“You have a call on the airphone,” she said gesturing for Bette to follow her to the galley area.
Bette answered it, puzzled.
“It’s Tina.”
“Is Angelica OK?”
“Ohcertainly. She’s fine.”
“Good. Good.” Bette relaxed.
“Did you sleep with her?”
“No, I didn’t do that.”
“Is thisis this the truth?”
“I’ve done really bad things to you, but I’ve never lied. You know that. And I’m not lying now.”
“Did you kiss her?”
“No.”
They were both silent for what seemed like minutes, but was only seconds.
“I care, Bette.”
“What?” said a distracted Bette.
“I just want you to care,” Bette had said this over the phone to Tina earlier in the evening.
“You asked me earlier if I cared and I didn’t answer. But I care,” Tina paused. “I care. I didn’t want you to sleep with her.”
“Well, Tina. I didn’t. I couldn’t.”
Bette waited for a response, but there was none.
“Well, I’ll be home in a few hours,” Bette added. “Good night.”
Bette had been seated only a few moments when the stewardess arrived with the beers and Bette paid for them. She took a long swallow of beer and opened her billfold again because she had noticed the Senator’s business card when she was getting out her money. She turned it over and saw the Barbara’s private numbers handwritten on the back. Bette carefully put the card back in her billfold so she wouldn’t lose it.

OK, nice one im a spoiler freak so i know what happened,and tho i still prefere your version….Bette held onto the card!!!im wondering was there any chemistry between the Senator and Bette?,..ether way loved it and bad and all that the show is turning out to be im trying to keep the faith and will watch it if only to depress myself!!!lol thanks

first of all, congratulation…your story was one of the best romantic and entertaining, i’m glad you got the award….please, don’t be discouraged to write about B&T…if all the writers will lose their desire to write about their favorite characters due to the show, we’ll have nothing left…congrats again
Congrats on your award. You’re well deserving. I am sad and depressed as it seems to get worse for TiBette each epi. Do you think IC is teasing us and TiBette will be resurrected in later episodes?
For all of us who still do care about T&B, please keep writing you shoulda’s. This chapter was great and hit me in the gut when tina actually called her on her flight to tell her she cared. Never give up, thats why its fan fiction!!
This was so much better than the show. I can understand why you’re depressed – what TiBetter isn’t – the way the show is going, the spoilers, all add up to a miserable waste of an opportunity and a horrible letdown. I for one, never thought we would have to rely on fanfic writers to find the fun in the L Word. In other shows we expect not to see what we want and to depend on subtext and fanfic about that subtext. But yet again it’s down to the fanfic writers to make a show bearable – and your fics have been a very enjoyable part of that effort. Well done on the award.
Pancha. Congrats on the award. And I am done with the show as of now… There is no redemption and I don’t really feel the urge to toture myself each week now knowing the outcome.. So pls, pls, at least contiune with what is love.. So we can at least see the what could have been if FF writers and Fans ruled the show! :P Again congrats on the award.

You know, when I was watching the show last Sunday, and Bette and Barbara were on the couch…leaning into each other…so close…I remember drooling, and then thinking, “DANG, THESE STRAIGHT GIRLS CAN ACT!!!!” LOL Thanks!!

i think illene has something up her sleves with bette and tina. i think she is doing this because the character ofbette porter is pregnant. and laurel said in a tv guide interview that things are not what they seem in s3 right that seems true.

first off let me say i luv your writing, but i am so sad for all the readers and writers who say they are done with the show.. what other show is out there, i may not like nor understand what goes through ileane’s head, but she gave us these characters and at least its on t.v. and i have fanfictions writers to write the better stories all year long!!!!!

Congrats on the award! It is much deserved. All TiBetters are a bit cranky and numb right now. Is it bad if we take this out on the rest of the world (family, work, other drivers..LOL)? Please keep going with the Shouldas as good fanfic is truly a lifeline for many of us who would have tossed out everything LWord after Ep.1. I appreciate you giving us hope. Even if everyone swears that we live in denialville, I say let’s cover our ears and sing, “My bologna has a first name….” and get our daily dose of Tibette fanfic.

Frist congradulations on your award. Secondly, please do not give up writing about our girls. I know that you are depressed and angry about how they have been treated this season, but you help us with bringing the inbetween lines that are not in the show. Thirdly, This is a wonderful way of putting our girls back in line hopefully to picking themselves back up by the bootstrap and getting back together.

I’m not gonna sit here and beg you to continue writing “Shouldas” even though I had wondered what was taking this one so long. Soon it will be to the point that there will be nothing to touch without rewriting the whole episode, and really who wants to do that even out of pure fun? I will say though that Bette’s fantasy with the Senator was sexy, yet it held the tenderness I’ve often seen in many Bette and Tina first times. And really, I think that’s more along the lines of what Bette needs right now. I mean, hell, she can’t even get a hug from Tina. At this point I’m shocked the finger suck on the show didn’t send Bette into orgasmic shock. At any rate, don’t feel pressured to pimp out any material if you aren’t feeling it. But if you do decide to write, I’ll read it.
