(Three years later. The Daily Planet. Bette and Alice were now reporters for the Daily Planet working in the bull-pit. Jodi Lerner was still editor and chief. She and Bette were having a relationship. Bette kept Tina’s ring close to her heart but no longer dreamt of Tina coming back to her.)

Alice: So how are you and Jodi?

Bette: We’re good, you and Dane?

(Bette had no feelings for Jodi whatever so ever. For her it was just sex. She had gone cold and emotionless after Tina left her)

Alice: We’re great

Bette: Good you two belong together

Alice: You think?

Bette: Yes I do

Alice: And what about Jodi, is she the one?

Bette: The ‘one’ isn’t here, is she? And she’s never coming back

Alice: You have to forget about her Bette, you’re not going to go anywhere with Jodi if you don’t forget about her

Bette: I don’t want to forget about her Alice, she is the love of my life and that will never change

Alice: She left you

Bette: Don’t you think I don’t know that? You weren’t the one who was crying for days!

(Bette stands from her desk and walks out the bull-pit. Alice closes her eyes and sighs heavily. Jodi enters, she is obviously looking for Bette)

Alice: If you’re after your two o clock booty call, she’s gone off in the huff

Jodi: Meaning?

Alice: Ancient history, that seems to repeat itself

Jodi: Bette’s partner is here and she needs to meet her

Alice: Oh brill, wonder which tool has taken up the post this time?

(Tina enters the bull-pen. She had just arrived and was looking forward to her new job. She had no idea Bette was her new partner nor that Alice was also working for the Daily Planet)

Tina: Ms Lerner?

(Alice freezes at the sound of Tina’s voice. Jodi turns around to see Tina. She was dressed in a smart suit and wearing thick rimmed glasses. Her hair was dyed a dark shade of brown. Alice could hardly recognise her)

Jodi: Ahh, Ms Kennard

(Tina sees Alice and freezes on the spot, her job had just become ten times harder)
