Smallville: The L Word Style Chapter 6

(Cut to Tina’s dorm. Alice and Bette are sitting on the bed; they are discussing their future)

Alice: I hear you and Tina have a direct line to the Daily Planet

Bette: (Scoffs) Who’d you hear that off?

    Alice: Your professor

(Bette raises an eyebrow. Alice nods)

Alice: Oh yeah you two are headed for the big time

    Bette: Al…

Alice: I can see it now; Bette Porter and Tina Kennard, star reporters for the world’s greatest newspaper

Bette: Zip it Al; I don’t even know if I wanna go into journalism full time

Alice: Bette what else are you gonna do?

    Bette: I don’t know, I love art

    Alice: And?

    Bette: Open my own gallery

Alice: Bette your destiny lies far beyond The Last Supper and The Mona Lisa

    Bette: How do you know?

    Alice: Just a feeling

    Bette: Brilliant

Alice: Oh come on cuz, I know that wherever Tina goes you’ll follow

    Bette: Alice

Alice: Its true; everyone can see you two are meant to be

Bette: Our destiny is our own

Alice: Unless it has already been written in stone

    Bette: And mine hasn’t

Alice: Bette you’ve got to know that you’re destined to be something greater than a gallery owner who book artists and sits behind a desk writing out party invites

Bette: Better than sitting behind a desk writing up old news that needs a new angle

Alice: I’ve read your articles Bette, they are amazing. Talent like that isn’t taught in a classroom it comes from within

(Bette sits and contemplates what Alice had said. Could she be right? Tina enters the room, she had overheard the conversation. They had no idea of what lay ahead.)

    Tina: Hey

Bette: (Turns suddenly and smiles loudly) Hey you

    Alice: Hey TK

(Tina sits in between Bette’s open legs and lies back against her)

    Bette: Shane and Dana OK?

Tina: (Tenses a little) Yeah, just a few grammar errors

    Alice: Typical

    Tina: Yeah

Alice: Are you planning to get a newspaper job when you leave here TK?

Tina: What makes you think that?
