    Some Christmas – Part 2

    Chapter 4

"This was a nice idea, Kit," Bette said, wrapping her hands around a cup of coffee. Bette looked around the small cafe’s cozy atmosphere. "How did you know about this place, anyhow?"

"I used to come here after shows sometimes back when I was working in the city," Kit said. "Long time ago. I was glad to see it’s still standing. I wasn’t sure it would be. I had to come for one last cup of coffee, breathe in a few memories before I went back home." Kit took a drink of her own coffee and added, "I’m glad we have the chance to talk."

"Especially since you’ve spent most of this visit with Angie," Bette said with a faint smile. "Not that I can blame you."

"She’s getting so big!" Kit said, returning a grin. "And smart as a whip, too. You must be so proud of her."

    "I am."

She told me a few things,” Kit said, treading carefully. “Things about… you and Tina.”

Bette smiled wryly. “Subtlety was never your strong point, Kit.”

Undeterred, Kit continued. “Do you want to talk about it? I thought you two were doing fine. All of you adjusted to living in New York…”

Bette scoffed and drank more coffee, letting her gaze drift out the window. “We’ve adjusted all right.”

What does that mean?” Kit asked. “I couldn’t help but notice the tension in the past few days. All this time I thought you guys were fine. You know, settled and happy. What happened?”

    Bette shrugged. “Things change.”

    In what way?”

I don’t know. I guess I thought things would be different.”

Kit made a point of looking at her watch. “We’re working with limited time here, I’ve got a flight to catch in a few hours, you know.”

Bette sighed. “I thought… when we moved here, we would be building our lives here together. That we would make decisions about our lives, together. But more and more Tina does whatever she wants without even consulting me.”

Really? That doesn’t really sound like Tina,” Kit said doubtfully.

Yeah, well, take it from me, she’s calling all the shots. And ever since I lost my job, she’s been throwing the fact that she’s the one making the money in my face. As if I wasn’t making good money until a few months ago. And the one who supported us all the times she was out of work.” Bette shook her head. “I am looking for a new job. I haven’t found the right place yet. I know I can find something. I just don’t know when she became so…”

    1. The relationship in this story seem very much like the one is Season 3-that we try to pretend never existed-but I hope that this one will have a different ending. Alice is always in the corner of Tibette-I hope she can make the girls remember the love.

    2. Judging from the previous chapter and Tina’s thoughts about how she is not a domestic goddess anymore and that she LIKES it that way – Kit and Alice are in for a disappointment. This Tina is depressing as hell. I hope this story still turns out to be a happy Christmas story coz it’s all doom and gloom so far, lol.

    3. Look out people, Crazy Alice is coming through! She has enough crazy ideas that something is bound to work. Let’s hope that three heads can break through Tina’s gruff exterior and get her to see the light of love again. Great write omalley!
