    Something Different.

Youre right, the blank page which the child is about to write on could be construed as life. With the older more wiser hand guiding the younger one as he prepares to commit himself to the paper.

I let the words sink in, nodding more to myself than anyone in particular. She was right, that was exactly what the picture was saying. I turned to the woman, intrigued by this fresh and interesting person.

You know your art. I said, feeling quite bold as I met her eyes.

Thank you, I haven’t seen you here before, youre not an artist are you?

I laughed softly, shaking my head at the thought.

No Im not that talented Im afraid, just an admirer that’s all.

Anyone can be an artist, I bet youd make beautiful art.

I was about to laugh off her compliment but I didn’t want to take my eyes off her. We gazed into each other as the seconds ticked by, I felt like I knew this woman, there was something unbelievably different about her. An unsaid secret that both of us knew but neither of us could say. After a moment I broke her gaze, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks as I realised what I was doing. Well if she didn’t think I was crazy before, staring at her in silence would have done it.

    Im sorry, Ive embarrassed you.

No, you haven’t embarrassed me. I said, looking back up into her dark eyes.

Now I could see her properly I was becoming more and more aware of how striking she was. Her face was round with soft features that would have made her look achingly innocent if it wasn’t for her dark and dangerous eyes.

Thats good, I wouldnt want to scare off the most attractive person here. She purred, flirting unashamedly with me.

This was one of those moments where it became apparent I was standing at a cross roads. I could either go right and kindly inform this captivating woman that I was straight and therefore was not interested, or I could go left and play along with this new game, accepting her suggestive glances and returning her flirtatious manner. Unfortunately I was even more indecisive than usual due to the alcohol, so I just stood there like a lemon. A smile plastered across my face as I racked my brain for an appropriate answer.
