At the Beach…..

Shane was watching from the car as Bette was playing with her child.  Shane never would have believed that she would be sitting here watching Bette Porter playing with her child.  When Bette left Shane had always feared that she would never see Bette again much less see her with a child.

Shane got out of her car and walked down to the beach.

Bette saw Shane approaching and took her son and walked toward Shane.

Bette:  Hello Shane.

Bette, its so good to see you! Then they both hugged one another and cried and laughed.

Bette: I have missed you Shane how are you?

Shane:  Bette, I have missed you so much!  Its great to see you!  Who is this little guy?

Shane McCutcheon meet Dane Porter.  Dane this is your auntie Shane.

Shane and Dane just looked at one another. 

Bette:  Shane I have a blanket set up over there with a couple of beers and sandwiches what do you say we go have a seat. Dane here will probably settle down for a nap.

Shane:  Sounds good.  Shane turned to walk to the blanket and Dane reached up and grabbed Shane’s hand.

Bette:  Seems you have a friend.

They walked to the blanket and sat down.  Bette handed Shane a beer and Dane a juice.

Shane:  Bette, he is gorgeous!  I have so many questions.  How old is he?  Where do you live?  Are you and Jodie Foster partners?

Bette:  Shane, we have all day.  I will answer as many questions as I can.  First of all Dane is almost 4 and no I am not partners with Jodie.  She has been with the same women for quite some time.  Lets finish our sandwiches he will settle down for a nap and I will fill you in on what I can.  But first why don’t you tell me what is going on with you?

Shane and Bette sat and talked for quite some time. Dane had settled in Shane’s lap and fallen asleep. 

Shane:  Bette he is great.  How did you come up with his name?

Bette:  Well, after I had heard that Dana died I was devastated.  I was at the funeral Shane.  I came in late and sat in the back and left early so you guys wouldn’t see me.
