“Try and move on? On where? On to a friendship??? I am sorry Tina, but I am not so sure that I can have just a friendship with you….”
“I left him…..” said Tina…….
“I mean…..I can’t have a friendly dinner with you…..and then you go home to him……knowing that you are ……wait……..what did you just say????”
“I said I left him…….” said Tina……
“But……why???? I mean…..when???”
“I talked to him tonight on the way here…….I didn’t exactly tell him that I was leaving in those exact words, but in a round about way, I think he knows….”
“So, you didn’t leave him….you in a round about way told him that you were leaving???” asked Bette……
“No….well yea……..sorta……I mean, I am going to look for an apartment close to work…….”
“Do you want to stay here? The spare bedroom is there, not being used……I would welcome you, you know that…..”
“I just don’t know if that is such a good idea…..I am wanting to make us work Bette, and I don’t think my staying here would be good for us……we need to spend time together, but we also need time apart. What do you think?”
“I think you are right…..but please let me help you find a place…..What about tonight??? Where will you stay?” asked Bette…….
“In a Motel I guess……” said Tina……. “I haven’t much thought about it…..”
“Well, how about this…….how about you stay here tonight……in the spare bedroom, and tomorrow, you and I can go together to find you an apartment? How does that sound?”
“Sounds great…” said Tina……
“OK…..it’s been a long nite of talking……….I am gonna turn in……..make urself at home………anything here is urs too….” said Bette as she stood and began to walk towards her bedroom. Before walking from the den, she turned to Tina…… “Sweet dreams, T……and thank you soo much for this talk…..”
“Bette……Please, can I have a hug?” asked Tina……
“you don’t have to ask, of course you can…..” answered Bette as she walked towards Tina……
As Bette leaned into Tina, she could smell that familiar scent, and the feel of the immediate butterflies that overtook her stomach…..She turned her head slightly to the side, and rested her lips upon Tina’s neck….. Whispering, “God, you smell so good…..would you like to………………………….”
