    SOUL

    Evening Comes

Tina got in her car as the afternoon sun made its last appearance of the day.  Her sister witches watched from the old Victorian home’s wrap around porch.  Almost everyone in Tina’s coven was cautiously excited.

Shane and Helena had been giving Tina advice on what to wear for a date with a vampire. Tina allowed them their fun and shut them up when she suggested that they both might be jealous because Bette had never even given them a second look at the Planet. Dana sat knitting in a rocking chair trying to hide her smile, she knew this was work for her friend but she too had always been intrigued by the Bette Porter mystique. Alice was noticeably absent.  She remained in the house looking from behind the curtain of the front window, just out of sight.  She shook her head with worry and walked back inside as Tina sped out of the long driveway in her black Porsche. Soul salvaging was a lucrative business.

Tina arrived a little before their scheduled time and just as she drove up, Bette’s door opened and she appeared in the entrance. How the hell do they do that?

The brunette watched her walk up the drive. She looked like heaven in a light blue sundress; her hair was up in a clip, obviously still damp from her shower or bath.  Bette inhaled and she could feel the movement of the blood she had just consumed through her veins begin to heat up.  Heat was not a usual sensation for vampires but for some reason when she was around Tina, she could swear that was what she felt. It’s gotta be just in my mind.

“Hello Tina.  It’s good to see you.”  She moved slightly so that Tina could get in the door but not some much that she would miss an opportunity to have her brush against her.

Tina did just that even though she had plenty of room to get by without coming near Bette.  “Good evening Bette.  I hope you’re ready to get some work done. We had such little time last night with all the drama.”

“Yes, I am actually.  I’ve been looking forward to it all day.”
