Soul Harvest: Chapter 49
My god, Julie, you live like five miles from the city and it takes forty five minutes to get to your place? Tina asked.
Welcome to Boston!
They got to her place and dropped their bags in the living room.
Let me give you a tour… heres the living room, the bathroom, the kitchen and my room. Julie stood in one place simply pointing to each room.
Wow… its so… Bette began.
Small. Tina finished her thought. This is the smallest apartment Ive ever seen. Only two closets? How much do you pay for this?
Lets just say its not cheap and over a thousand a month.
Good thing youre graduating. Tina responded as she messed up Julies hair. So, I take it mom and dad arent staying here?
Nope, hotel downtown. Its nice, we wont be seeing a ton of them. She said as she quickly looked from Bette to Tina.
Should we go see them? Tina asked.
They dont come in until tomorrow. Julie said. So we have the evening to do as you please.
Tina laughed. I dont know about Bette, but Im exhausted. The whole time change thing has thrown me off and I feel like Ive been hit by a train.
Bette nodded and yawned. Three hours ahead out here… yuck. But Id be up for dinner, T?
Sounds good to me, know any good places? Tina asked Julie. She looked at Tina with an eyebrow raised.
I think I might know of a few places. I mean Ive only lived out here for four and a half years. Depends on what youre looking for. Theres a ton of great dives, but then theres the greatest fancy places. Tina and Bette shrugged, giving no opinion. Id say seafood, but I know mom and dad will want to go to a fancy seafood place so lets go to the north end. Its an adorable place with the best Italian food.
They all agreed and headed back out. This time Bette insisted on paying for a cab, not wanting to brave the Massachusetts transportation system, known to the locals as the T. After they reached the north end, they walked down the tiny narrow streets lit with old gas lamps, feeling as though they had entered a time warp. Reaching Juliess favorite restaurant, they were seated immediately.
