    Soul Singing 4

Alice began to whistle a rather hectic version of ‘Queen *****’ as she pulled Liam’s luggage through the door.

“Alice you’re killing Bowie for me,” Liam stated, wincing at her whistling. “You should just stick to singing.”

“I think I whistle just lovely thank you,” Alice commented before whistling once more, louder and more off tune this time.

“I should have just stayed at the hospital,” Liam muttered.

It had been three days since his ordeal, and only now had he been able to sign out from the hospital. Looking around Alice‘s spacious apartment, Liam quickly decided that Alice‘s whistling was definitely more tolerable than the awful elements of the hospital – the silence, the blandness the smell.

“Liaaaam,” Alice called from down the hall. “Your room is this way.”

Alice opened the door to present a large room, with white walls bar one wall behind the king sized bed which was a deep red. The walls were decorated with vintage concert posters and occasional memorabilia such as a series of drumsticks from numerous bands including The Who, Rolling Stones and Oasis. To Liam’s right was a massive stereo system and a stack of cds which almost took up the entire wall. To his left was a brand new bass guitar, one which Alice had bought the day before.

“A-Alice I,” Liam began. “Jesus girl you’ve got me tongue-tied! You didn’t do this all in the past day did you?”

“Well I had to redecorate this room anyway,” Alice stated, feeling herself get a little flustered at Liam’s reaction. “I dunno, after what you’ve been through I thought you should probably stay somewhere which seemed more homely. It really isn’t that big of a deal.”

Her words were met by Liam’s outstretched arms as he brought her in for a hug.

“Thank you Al, it’s beautiful,” Liam said into Alice‘s blonde hair. “You really can spend, can’t you?”

“You know me. I’m a material girl in a material world,” Alice replied.

“Damn straight,” Liam said as he jumped onto the bed. Alice soon followed suit.

“So tell me, are there any restrictions while I’m staying here?” Liam asked in a joking manner. “Curfews? Limitations on visitors? Noise control?”

“Of course – you can be out no later than I am, only have visitors I like, and the noise has to be approved by me.”
