“Jeez Dane you’re shivering,” Alice stated as she ran to grab a blanket, pulling it tightly around her. “Are you ok?”
“I am now,” Dana replied at the risk of being clichd. She looked up at the blonde to see her smiling at her, and seconds later felt Alice‘s wet lips on her own.
“I’ll get you some clothes to change into,” Alice stated.
“I but you’re so beautifully dressed I’ll feel like an idiot,” Dana replied, looking down at the ground. Alice did look amazing tonight.
“Then I’ll get changed and be an idiot too. I don’t want you dying of pneumonia on me.”
Alice planted one more quick kiss on Dana’s lips before running back into her room, returning soon after with the same clothes they had donned a few nights beforehand.
“Dj vu?”
“You betcha,” Alice said as she handed Dana the clothes. “I have to say I’m beginning to like this whole clothing thing we have going. They may not attractive but these trackies are definitely the most comfortable clothes I have ever worn on a date.”
“That makes two of us,” Dana said as she walked into the bathroom to get changed. It was only once she was in the bathroom that she noticed the candles that were delicately placed around the room, and around the house.
“Alice, the place looks amazing,” Dana said sincerely when she had finished changing.
“You like it?” Alice asked, a big smile spreading across her face. “About an hour before you came there was a blackout, and I began freaking out, thinking you’d have to go through another terrible date”
“Terrible date? I don’t know what you could possibly be talking about,” Dana said, interrupting Alice as she walked over to the large windows to look at the storm.
“Well anyway,” Alice continued while also walking over to the windows. “Liam, being the sappy ***** man he is, suggested all the candles. So it was all his idea but I’m really glad you liked it.”
“I love it,” Dana replied, looking up at Alice to smile.
“H-He Liam, that is, says hi by the way,” Alice stuttered, as a sudden bout of nerves took over her body. She couldn’t help but smile through her nervousness – it was such an alien concept to her. No one had ever made her feel nervous, and now this gorgeous, shy, down to earth woman was causing her heart to jump up into her throat.
“That’s so nice of him,” Dana replied as she too began to feel nervous. Maybe because she could sense that Alice was nervous, or maybe because she had once again realised just who it was she was on a date with, Dana suddenly felt like a fifteen year old girl on her first date.
“You are pretty much his hero now,” Alice joked as she contemplated putting her arm around Dana’s waist. Just do it Al. “I mean after the hospital thing and everything.”
“So you have competition then?” Dana replied without thinking. Her head dropped with embarrassment as she realised what she had said. “II sorry I do-”
“Well that is what I thought,” Alice interrupted her. “But then I realised that Liam is as ***** as ***** gets, so it looks like I have a good chance.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Alice realised what a sleaze she sounded like.
“I uh I-I mean, I h-hope that’s the case, anyway.”
“It is,” Dana replied in a whisper, letting her eyes catch Alice‘s for a split-second before moving her concentration once more to the storm in front of them.
Alice‘s breath was caught in her throat. Any words which she had come to her before Dana’s comment were completely lost. Because in that second that Dana gazed at her, that Dana hinted so readily that she was feeling the exact way Alice was, it happened. Alice Pieszecke, the famous Stereo-Hart singer and guitarist, the renowned ladies’ lady, the cool of the cool she fell in love. She fell in love so hard and so fast that she wanted to cry and laugh and run and jump all at once. But most of all she wanted to hold Dana, to kiss her or hug her, to touch her to just make sure she was there, and that she would continue to be there, right next to her, where Alice now truly believed she belonged.
And with this ground-breaking realisation fresh in her memory, Alice slowly, but surely, brought her arm up and around Dana’s waist.
