Chapter 5
Bette walked into her home on Thursday evening exhausted and hyped up at the same time from one of the most surreal weeks of her life. She sat on the sofa, still holding her laptop, her purse, and wearing her coat. She had no idea what to do. She needed to talk to someone. But who? For some unknown reason, Bette picked up her phone and called her craziest friend, Alice.
“Bette, did you just call me without me leaving you 15 messages. What’s wrong? Where are you?”
“Alice, I’m fine and very funny. I call you. You just leave a lot of messages.”
“So what do I owe the honor of this call?”
“Where are you?” “Are you alone?”
“Well no, I’m actually at work finishing up a story. What’s going on?”
“Nothing, I just need to talk to someone and I thought if you weren’t busy you might come over. Maybe we could order a pizza and talk.”
“Oh Shit Porter, You’re not pregnant are you?
“Very funny. Can you come over tonight or not?”
“I’ll be there in an hour. Okay, or should I come sooner?”
“No an hour’s perfect. I’ll order some food”
“See ya then Porter”
“Hey Al, … Thanks, and can we keep this one to ourselves?”
“Sure Bette, don’t worry. Love you”
“Love you too, see ya in a bit”
Bette leaned back on the couch and let her head fall back. ‘What the hell was she going to do?’ Every moment she spent with the beautiful blonde she was falling deeper and deeper into a place she had no idea existed. The week had been amazing. Tina had absorbed everything that came at her like a sponge. She was already doing most of what was expected of her with ease and offering additional points of view and suggestions that at times left Bette awestruck. On every level Tina Kinnard blew her away. ‘What the f—was she going to do? She closed her eyes and tried to hold back the tears that were threatening but she couldn’t. She had pretty much cried herself to sleep on the couch when a loud bang caused her to roll off the couch. She jumped up and saw Alice staring at her with her mouth wide open. Bette looked up and burst into tears. Alice ran over and got on the floor with Bette and hugged her friend close.

Oh I loved this chapter. This is a different Alice cause Alice can’t keep a secret to save her life. This was very funny. They’re going to have a straight buddy. Think but no touching. Bette is in for some sweet yet painful days and nights. And so are we. :) Great writing.

I just read all the chapters of this story. I love it. You’re doing a great job. Alice actually had some good suggestions for Bette…I was shocked…she’s really being a good friend. She’s still her crazy self though….love it. I can’t wait to see Bette put her plan into action.
Being Tina’s BFF is certainly an option for Bette, but I think it’s just going to make her fall even deeper. Bette’s efforts are going to be fun to see, though. Thanks D&A!

Bette crying for falling in love with a straight girl….. I’d cry too. But, wasn’t it once said that girls are straight until their not……. Why did Tina drop “Wilson”. Bette has her work cut out for her. Trying to resist Tina will be like trying not to breathe. Alice always being available when “Porter” calls is great. You ROCK Al. Great post, I cannot wait for the next chapt.
I love this story, always good to see another version of how they might have met but the fact always remains tht they can never keep hands or eyes off each other, the attraction is too great. Tina married but husband always gone, seems he may have something going on somewhere else and is ready to get out now that the kid is off to college. Can hardly wait to see what happens next on all fronts. Not being cynical, men just are bastards that way. Thanks for sharing the story with us.

OMG silly Bette, no plan can work hehehehe with Tina if not only the truth lol. Alice’s plan is S… lol. But the fact that Tina is still married is a problem,a big on. How will you sort that outhey? can’t wait lo. PPVS
“…Alice sat stunned, still hugging Bette and said: “Honey, its okay. Did you fall in love with a man? Is that it?”…” I came close to pissing myself laughing at that one and then Bette’s line “…I almost cried today when she asked if I remembered to eat dinner last night.
