Tina watched as Catiana slipped her arms around Bette making Bette smile that small inner light was glowing inside of Bette again. She’d hit rock bottom, and had managed to swim back to the top, thank god.
“How are you doing Al?” Alice shrugged seeing Rosita emerge from the back of the room; she was dressed in her old shirt and worn out jeans. How a suit made a difference, and then Alice thought of how patronizing that was to Rosita, who was obviously a very smart woman. She had misjudged her, and had treated her unfairly.
“I suck. I miss CJ, and Sam won’t return my calls, the hospital said she hasn’t been to work. No one has heard from her and I don’t know what to do.” Alice rubbed her face, and then began to worry a nail as Rosita sat back down.
“Who are you looking for?” Rosita asked and Alice was about to let off a smart comment, but thought better of it. She needed to stop being a ***** to Rosita; the woman was visibly much more than her exterior.
“Sam.” Rosita sat back and nodded, blowing the stray strand of hair away from her eyes. She was back to being plain old Rosita Navarro, auto body mechanic, old clothes and full of attitude, just the way she liked herself. She reached over and played with Tina‘s hair absently, and Tina smiled at the motion.
“It’s hard to lose someone that you love, especially when it’s traumatic like the way that Sam lost CJ. Have you tried going to her, maybe seeing a familiar and friendly face might help.” Rosita offered and Alice shook her head. She took a long deep breath, and sighed heavily.
“I’m the last person… I’m gonna call a cab, I’m gonna go home.”
“We’ll drive you.” Tina said, and Ro leaned in whispering softly into Tina‘s ear and then said.
“I’ll drive you. Ro has to go somewhere. I’ll see you at the garage?” Ro nodded; and walked silently out of the Planet.
“You’re lucky Tee it’s not every day you find second love….” Alice said drunkenly, and Tina nodded walking out with Alice. She turned and lingered for a second seeing Bette and Catiana dancing, laughing and enjoying. Luck had nothing to do with it.
Bette watched them leave, losing track of the conversation with Catiana for a moment, then smiling when she saw Rosita turn and wave good bye to her. Bette raised her hand and waved back, then looked longingly at Tina for just an instant. In time, Tina, in time.

You never saw me before
Even when I was standing
Face To Face With You
You never heard my screams
Or felt my hands touching you
Face your lies
They’ll never go away
Haunting as the ghost at the door
Winking out of existence
Only to return forevermore
I was a coward to believe in you
I don’t know what you really want
I just know its no longer me
I can’t ignore, the tatters of our lives
Always ready to knock me down
My life always in denial.
