Summer Vacation. Chapter 11
Previously:
“It’s along the banks of the Delaware?” said Bette, “yes?”
Lottie nodded, aware what it might mean that she had known that, seen that, she cleared her throat, finding that her voice had got lost somehow,
Now would be the perfect time to say it, why couldn’t she?
“Beside the Ben Franklin Bridge …” she said instead,
Bette smiled, “I grew up there … well … in Philly,” she paused, “I loved the way you merged the time together seamlessly, it was like looking at an old photograph of the place where you’re presently stood, like a picture within a picture … incredible”
Lottie brought her hand to her mouth, amazed by the accuracy of Bette’s description,
“I’m sorry,” said Bette, reaching forward to touch her hand, “did I get it completely wrong?” she asked,
“No …” said Lottie, “no … no you got it completely right.”
Chapter Eleven.
“There you go sweetie …” muttered Tina as she covered a sleeping Angelica up in her bed, tucking her in, “so your Momma thinks cookies are a suitable dinner … huh” she continued, tuting at Bette under her breath for not feeding their child better.
She brushed Angie’s curls from her face as she lay sleeping soundly without a care in the world having only been extracted from Bette’s lap moments earlier, where she’d fallen asleep listening to Bette and Lottie discus New York and art and their favourite photographers …
It was precisely how Tina found the three of them when she woke up.
They were a strange pair to watch, more alike than either of them seemed to realise. Lottie unnerved her, and Tina knew why … she reminded her of the Bette she had long forgotten about, the Bette she had first come to love.
It was no secret that Bette was wilful, determined and self-reliant … they were qualities which made her the success that she was, qualities that Tina often saw she had passed in small quantities to Angie too. Yet motherhood had softened her, as had Tina before that and sixteen years was a long time for a person to change.
To grow.
Lottie scared Tina because she was like the old Bette, the pre-Tina Bette and clearly Bette relished in seeing it. She was independent to the point they knew so little about her and yet she slotted so genially into their lives. She was unobtrusive, amicable and deliciously compelling, someone you wanted to know better whilst at the same time giving nothing of herself away. Tina couldn’t decide if she wanted to save her or run from her, or perhaps both.

thank goodness! i was so worried she was going to be bette’s daughter… thank you that she’s not!
Crikey. I expected it, and didn’t… I don’t think Bette could ever hate Lottie, be confused, maybe, but hate, never. BTW, the rest of the chapter was way hot… I’m glad you’ve posted, and I can’t wait for the next chapter.
I was so right. I can’t believe Tina passed out. This story is so good and addictive. I love it. PPS
Finally answers!!! For a moment I thought she was Bette’s amnesia baby. You now like in the soaps when someone had a baby but forgot until it shows up on their door step. Glad to see it’s her sister.
sofasitter….This chapter was awesome. Only 3 pages but it read like so much more….lots of detail and I like the way you described what Lottie and Bette were doing at the same time but different locations. Very intriguing.PPS.
well im glad the truth has came out finally it took you long enough.lol tina was starting to piece things together and the sex scene WOW.. p.p.s.
Sofa, you saved me from dying! Sex =VERY HOT; Lottie= there is still more to come and I am anxious! Post soon!
omg, you are the first author on record I think that did not leave that cliff hanger ending…well kind of, but you can have been so much more cruel to cut it back a few paragraphs…omg thanks, that was a fantastic chapter…all of it!!!
I knew it!! I knew it!! *doing happy dance* Great! And now, explanations…please??
AT F… LAST !!!! But torture right to the end!!!!! Hell now what u gonna do with 3 sistas????? Great story, post soon.
oh yeah…the sex was okay too (in my best droll voice)…actually gyrl u’ve got that down pat so there best be more.
i doubt they had the same dads… besides didn’t she describe lottie as a blond… anyway… i was right… she was bettes sister… love this… and so glad its out in the open… now i wpnder how old lottie was when her mom died… i think bette was under the impression her mom died thats why she left her… (BTW… i read this at work last night and i had to come back to it and post my comment…) please post soon
after all this time with a lot of think on her shoulders lottie told Bette the true, it will be better how Bette will react and Tina! great post
I’m with dalloway i thought that she was gonna be Bette’s daughter that Melvin made her give up all those years ago. Her sister huh? Do they have the same dad or diff? Thanks, PPS.
AMAZING!!!!…. Finally, we get to know who she is… I’m really looking forward to the unfolding events from there. And I’m also curious to see what Tina’s role is gonna be in that situation, being a psychologist and all. I mean, appart from being there for her Bette, who will definitely more than ever need her. But, I think you gave her a very interesting personality in this story and it will be interesting to see her interaction with both Bette and Lottie. Lottie seems so vulnerable in that last scene, it’s heartwrenching. Oh, and thanks again about this magic touch you bring to B&T’s relationship. That scene in the kitchen where Tina pretends to be crossed and Bette reaffirms her love is priceless for a hard tibetter like me! So much love and tenderness there. Thanks!
FINALLY!!! This is so addictive!
Everyone pretty much said everything I was thinking. lol PPS!
Hey I’ve just caught up on this great story, I really like your writing and the plot – you’re doing great. I’m your latest fan :o))
finally…it took you 11 chapters to tell us what we already knew LOL…just kidding, i’m glad she’s bette’s sister though, now they can all be one happy family :)
*wink*; The age difference between Bette and Lottie is 20. Now the question is; who is Lottie’s dad? Same as Bette, which makes her Kit’s sister as well? But she didn’t seem interested in Kit; so does that mean, different dad? Another Black man since we know Bette’s mom is white and she supposed to look exactly like Bette. Interesting. Thank you for posting your story.
so the next question is ……who is Lottie’s father….is it Melvin? are they 100% full blooded sisters or 50%….IS THE NEXT POST UP YET!!!!!! I DOUBT IT CONSIDERING THE CLIFFY AND ALL!!!
Oh my god you threw us a bone…as I was rounding the 3rd page I was like she’s gonna leave us hanging again…but you let the cat out of the bag…kudos to you…now we need to see how Bette is gonna react to it…and Bette & Tina were so hot in this chapter. More please. It was Lottie that fainted right? Not Tina.
Finally Lottie had the courage to tell Bette that they are sisters. This had to be so hard on Lottie knowing that for some reason she never got to know her sister. And then for Bette to really never know her mother. It is a tragic situation and hopefully time will heal some of the wounds.
Oh, thank god. I thought for sure you weren’t going to tell us again! I’m sure it’ll all be ok, and three Porter girls?! Lord help us all. ;) As for B&T… smoking.
There is so much going on in this chapter. Just wonder what is the age difference between Bette and Lottie? Bette’s mom gave birth to Lottie around in her mid-40s? Can’t wait to your next chappy. PPS. thanks.
Finally know who Lottie really is and this is so good@
