Tasha slowly breaks away from Alice’s lips and looks over at Simone. Tasha quickly runs through her mind the reason why their relationship didin’t work, as she’s looking at Simone’s fine self. Oh yeah, Tasha remembers; while she had come out while in college, coming out is a process for some and that included Tasha. While Tasha did realize that she was attracted to women and had the experiences with Papi (one night; ”that shit was terrible”) and the brief relationship with Simone (that was good), she still wasn’t prepared to live life totally out. Simone, while not broadcasting her sexual preference, was a little more comfortable at the time with her sexuality. She wished Tasha would come around quicker, but utimately respected her and gave her space to continue to figure out who she was. Simone still cared deeply for her.

    Tasha, being the thoughtful person that she is, appreciated Simone’s willingness to give her that space and knew that while she cared for Simone, she couldn’t totally commit to the relationship at the time, which was what Simone wanted, very much. Simone was graduating and heading over seas to play ball; she wanted Tasha to come with her. Tasha had one more year left and wanted to finish it at CSULB; she had made the promise to her mom to finish…she hadn’t discussed the other things she learned about herself in school yet with mom. So they parted, but were both very happy that they could remain friends. That was important to both of them.

    Tasha, looking at Simone, smiles and says ”hey.” Simone, smiling back, ”what’s up girl, I see you’ve found your way around and made yourself at home.” Tasha looks at Alice and makes the introduction, ”yeah, uh Alice, this is Simone, a friend from college; she owns the house.” Alice sensing some sort of connection other than friend from college, smiles and says ”nice to meet you; you have a lovely place.” While Alice is feeling out the situation, she’s also still in ectasy from the lovemaking that she and Tasha have shared, so she’s still in between worlds at the moment.
