Chapter 8

2 weeks later

In the last two weeks Tina rarely talked to Bette except for issues pertaining to work. It was obvious to Tina, Bette was going out of her way to avoid her, and it broke Tina’s heart. Tina had come to value Bette friendship and the easy going day to day banter they shared. Tina did her best not to think about Bette, she kept herself busy at work and school. 

These last two weeks Tina had spent a lot of time with Shane and Alice. They had spent almost every day having lunch together and sharing stories.  Shane was instantly taken by Tina and they both felt very comfortable and at ease with each other almost like they’ve known each other for years instead of weeks.  Shane had become Tina’s best friend and confidant.  Tina was hesitant of Alice at first, it took longer for Tina to come to trust her.  Tina knew from other co-workers that Alice made snide remarks about her behind her back, but Tina never let it bother her she always gave Alice the benefit of the doubt, they learned to get along and slowly but surely became very good friends, one thing for sure Tina thought, ‘I could ALWAYS, count on Alice to be nothing but honest with me.’

 Tina had received a hand delivered package from the studio at the office, and when she opened it she almost fainted it was a cashier’s check for the money Helena had offered Tina for moving expenses and a new wardrobe. Tina had never had so much money.

“Hey Tina! What’s crackin?” Alice said

“Oh, hey Alice how are you?”Replied Tina “Hey Shane”

“Hi,Tina!”

“Bette is not in the office she had to meet a photographer she’s planning to hire”

“Oh we didn’t come to see Bette, we came to see you!”

“Me? What can I do for you guys?”
“What are you doing on Saturday night?” asked Shane

“I was going to go on- line and start looking for an apartment” said Tina

“Well forget about doing that, we are taking you out!” Alice said

“You’re taking me out? Where? Why?” Asked Tina

“Well since this is your last week, we and a few people from the office decided to throw you a little going away party, slash, graduation, slash congratulations on getting the big fancy VP job. We’re going to take you to the Planet, we’ll have dinner first, then dancing”
