That Night (Time of Day 40)
Tina took a seat on the couch. “And our baby shouldn’t get sick.” She drew her legs up under her, and leaned back. “But we all do what we need to.”
“You don’t need to do it all alone.” Bette sat herself next to Tina. “I hope you don’t think that.”
“It was just a busy day. I didn’t see what someone else could do.”
“I could support you. Give you a break. Tag team.”
That earned a smile from Tina. “What are you doing here, anyway?”
“I, well, I had a project to finish up today, which is why I wanted to get home from The Planet.”
“So it wouldn’t have been such a good day to call you.”
“You could have called.” Bette realized how the prior statement must have sounded. “You can always call. I could have put the work aside for the day.”
At that declaration, Tina looked a little skeptical. Probably rightfully so. “But that doesn’t explain why you’re back.”
“Earlier. I left my car here,” Bette admitted, feeling a little sheepish that she hadn’t thought the plan through to the end.
More specifically, she realized that she’d left something at home that she wanted to give to Tina. After the morning they’d shared, especially, she felt that this was the day. But when she’d gotten home and noticed the stack of work she’d brought home that needed to be done for Monday, well, that’s when things started to spin a little out of control.
“I suppose that’d be a problem,” the blonde agreed.
“Besides, I’ve…”
Tina held a finger up before her mouth, again requesting Bette’s silence. It was then Bette heard what Tina must have already been aware, of, the faint sound of sobbing.
“She’s up again.” With that Tina was off the couch and hurrying towards the bedroom.
Bette followed. By the time she arrived at the bedroom, Tina was holding Angelica, wrapped in a blanket, speaking softly to the girl, and feeling for a fever.
“How is she?” Bette stepped forward, placing her own hand on the girl’s forehead. “She doesn’t feel hot.”
Just then the girl’s stomach let loose, all over herself and Tina. Tina rushed away towards the bathroom.

what was her plan? I am dying to know! PPS
As one who had the flu about 2 weeks ago, I can assure you that puking takes precedence over all plans. At least I wasn’t in the car. Bette’s impulses in regards to Angelica are noble enough, but as in the case of the baby sitter, it sounds like she really hasn’t had much baby maintenence duty. But if she plays her cards right… I will refrain from stating what I think she picked up at her house.
Try a long soak in a hot tub for that pesky stress.
I Love plans!!! I can’t wait to hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on surpassing your 200th post. Hope to see many more.
I’m dying to know what the gift was! Life’s little exegencies have a way of taking precedence. Tina will see that Bette is truly in for all of it and for the long haul. I’m glad she didn’t bolt! Thanks!
And congrats on your 201th post. BTW, what ever became of Tina and Bette and Jessie, their teenaged daughter? I really liked that story! Thanks!
I loved this as much as your other 200 chapters! As always, I can’t wait to read what’s next. Thanks.
Echo Techie – The Plan B story was one of my all time faves…and this story is great. I feel like I’m a broken record – more please when possible.
Awwwwww…poor little Angelica having the stomach flu. Bette should stick around to help…and she shouldn’t worry about waiting for the “perfect time” to give Tina that “thing” that she picked up at the house…she should just go for it! Great story! Can’t wait for more!
Thanks for the update, even if it did involve baby puke, it’s always a pleasure to read your posts.
A mother’s love and caring are never ending. Tina took care of her baby well their baby and still could give a half smile to Bette when asked a question.
Pseud, I just re-read this post and realized that 1) I never commented the first time around, 2)its been almost a week since you posted and I’m having withdrawls and 3) most importantly I forgot to recognize your awesome achievement of over 200 posts, well done mate – SORTED. We all miss reading your tale but can definitely relate to life being just too stressful. We’re here if you need us!! Hope to see you back on the boards soon and, really, 200 posts is massive. Congrats!!
yeah let mama B do the night shift while mama T maybe has a rest/sleep or whatever…loving the story…more pleasz
I’m with Rau. Best thing Bette can do is get Tina to go rest while she handles cleaning up and checking on Angelica. Then after maybe she can cuddle with her.
I think Bette’s right in that now isn’t the time for whatever she had planned for the evening.
i want to know more about Bette’s grand plans
I love this. Great story. Great reading. Great writing! Thank you.
This is my first time commenting…. (a lurking silent reader!) Thank you for telling such a wonderful story. Looking forward to your next post!
Sorry about the s-t-r-e-s-s, hopefully crazy time doesn’t last too much longer. The last time I tried watching Sesame Street for old time’s sake, it’d been re-packaged and re-branded into the Elmo show… and it was total and utter suck. Anyway. Right, the chapter: clean-up duty maybe doesn’t fit into the grand plans, but it’s what’s needed and if Bette’s going to be there, she has to be there for all of it. Thanks for the post, pseud.
Congratulations on your milestone post! That’s wonderful…as is this story. You describe this so realistically, it’s only happened once to my little one and it was JUST like this! Well…minus Bette who will hopefully take care of both Angie and Tina to warm Tina’s heart even more.
Congratulations on #200. Love your writing. Please let Bette put her plans aside for the moment and take over the cleanup and baby duties for Tina. Bette is most needed at the moment for that help. Have Tina lie down for a little bit and then sit with Tina after she has cleaned up and started the laundy. Great story as always.
Congrats on crossing the 200 mark AND giving all these great stories to read! Now, please let us in on this grand plan.
Now what could have been the grand plan? Great update pseud, and congrats on the 200th post.
Happy 200th…and 1! Another great post as always. I’m usually a silent reader but the milestone propmted me to make my presence known. Congratulations. You’re an excellent writer and THIS is an excellent story. Thank you for writing this.
Well, you know what happens after the baby gets the flu…the adults get it too. Maybe they can take turns being there for each other. Great post, I really felt Tina at the end of her rope and Bette trying to figure out what to do and how to fit in. Contragts!
Hey Pseud, Another fine chapter. Much congrats and gratitude for your firstr 200 chapters. 201 is fabulous. Love how outta of water Bette is with a sick and screaming infant. Tina did just the right thing and gave Bette a slice of her day. I do hope that Bette’s grand gesture involved a proposal; either going steady, moving in or marriage would be wonderful. Whatever it is I know it will be a pleasure to read. Please take care of yourself too. Exercise or massage are good for stress so go out and enjoy either. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
Congrats on having past your 200th post! Just like the others, I also love this story, and constantly check for new updates. Thanks for the post.
GREAT STORY….GREAT WRITING…PUKE AND ALL. PPS.
Ohh, Bette good intentions but sometimes it comes off as controling. I hope she picked up something special. I’m not even going to guess. I’ll just wait and hope its something good. I’m glad she stayed. Sorry about the stressful regular life. Hopefully it gets better. Post when you get a chance.
God I love this story…I’m so hooked. I hope Bette helps Tina with the clean up and shows she can do some of the “not so fun” stuff.
i love this story, and let bette take of some things while tina rest it will give bette more practice in the future and plus show tina that they are loved.p.p.s.
not juice and water. gatorade. puts the electrolytes back in from the puking. i LOVE the smell of baby puke. or toddler puke. dont know which is worse. yeah bette taking care of a sick kid is pretty tiring. great story, i want to know the plans also. thanks.
WOW!!! 200TH!!! Great Chapter!!!! I am so loving this story. Thanks
Hope Angie will get well soon and now whats Bette’s plan!
