    The Asking – Part 2

”No,” she let out a soft laugh that was bleak in its denial.  “She was there, Tee.  That’s all.  She was just…” she shrugged, “there.”

”Do you know what you’ve done to me?” I asked, my voice hushed in the relative quiet of the room.  “I mean, do you, Bette?”

She turned her eyes upon me, soulful and true.  “Yes,” she answered simply, her tone reverent, confessional.

”All those times when I wanted you.  All those times you never touched me, never wanted to be with me.  And you wanted to be with her.”  I spat out the word, tasting bile in the acknowledgment of deception.

    ”It wasn’t like that – “

”How could it not be, Bette?”  I felt ire rise at the back of my neck, tense and hot, blurring my vision and sharpening my tone.  “How could it not come down to the simple truth,” I was breathing heavily, my hands twisting against one another, fighting to be free, “that you wanted her more than you wanted me? You wanted to be with her more than you wanted to be with me.”

I couldn’t say any more.  My throat was aching, constricted with the hurt and sorrow and emptiness that were filling me up, blinding me with nothingness.  I cried, then.  I gave vent to the tears that came with the sight of her, disheveled and pathetic in front of me.  I know that I could have left then and never looked back.  I’d even made an attempt to do so in the previous weeks and almost managed a clean break.  But I think it was seeing her again like this, so close to me and yet as far away as one could ever be from their heart.  It was this time, now, that was making me realize that no matter how much I ran, I didn’t want anyone else.  I didn’t want to forge a new relationship or go through the honeymoon period or buy furniture or – or trust anyone else.  I cried as much for myself as I did for her.  Losing our baby had cut me to the quick and allowed grief to descend, shroud like, upon our family.  But losing her was so much worse.  Because in losing her, I was unable to find the greater part of myself.

    1. I swear you have an insight on Bette and Tina that is amazing. That was starkly honest and realistic. And I loved how you incorporated the new promo into it. Well done, Gaymo!

    2. Ohhh Gaymo this whole story has totally pulled at my heart strings, your writing style is amazing and it leaves my heartbreaking for the lost love between Tibbete.

You have a fantastic way of capturing and putting into words the rollercoster of emotions that a couple go through when something like this happens, the feeling of wanting to stay but at the same time knowing that you have to let go.

Soo sad but yet so captivating at the same time, thank you !!

    3. I need to comment one more time. I hate Tina. Happy? Now bring back that loving feeling I have for her by continuing your story in Part 3 or I am heading to the empire state building an jumping off!

    4. I’ve decided to paint my body in the L Word colors and leap off a tall building. I’ll be calling your name the whole way down though, gaymo. My sincerest hope is that the next chapter materializes before I become one with the ground. My guts have already been torn out, so I’m thinking I might be a bit aerodynamic. That should buy me some time, no?

Gaymo, please. My guts are begging you. The ground I will be splattering on begs you. My loins beg you.

I’d love to compliment this like a normal person but you’ve rendered me child-like and I can’t find the appropriate words.

Gaymo, you are my literary goddess. Yes, I worship many, but for this story, you get extra fucking candles. :D Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

    5. Heartbreaking. It’s a beautiful Sunday afteroon and I read this and feel sad and dejected. Please don’t leave it like this. As I have said before, use your enormous talent for good…put them back together, please.

    6. Everything emotion you wrote is so plausible. But it doesn’t have to stay this way. I hope you will continue and show the maturity of these two women who so desparately and completely love each other. Forgiveness is a character trait that hasn’t been taught enough. Love is not about getting even, it’s about forgiveness. Your story—simply BEAUTIFUL.

    7. Um, gaymo? I’d really like to eat lunch today. But I don’t like, have any guts. *voice going up at the end* So, if you could write more of this story and give them back, my body would appreciate it.

I mean, sure. I look all skinny without my guts but I can’t let that sway me in my begging for a positive resolution to this crotch-kicker of a story.

Until then, I’ll be renting myself out to carnivals as Gaymo’s Gutless Wonder. Any and all proceeds will go towards whatever you need to complete this story. :D

*stares longingly at her lunch* :D

5 stars, again. And again. And again. And again….
