    Chapter 4: Shopping for the ASP

    Returning to her desk, Tina found a list of twenty-two positions awaiting her review.  Most were focused on creative writing positions; there were numerous contract positions available for screenwriters as well as for television sitcoms.  Tina crossed those off her list immediately.   While she had a creative flare for writing she certainly did not wish to sit behind a computer screen all day.  There were also several photography and photojournalism opportunities.  Most of these included travel for extended time periods which meant automatic exclusion from Tina’s list.     

    About midway down the list, Tina saw a notice that caught her attention. 

    For immediate release

    The Peabody Foundation is seeking to fill a Development Assistant position in their LA office.  The Peabody Foundation is based in London and carries a mission to tender financial support to community arts and social service organizations.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  Hours will be 9-6 Monday thru Friday, with expected attendance at after-hour community-based events.  Fax resume to 310-012-1963 

    “This sounds perfect,” Tina said out loud.  She pulled up her resume in Word and began to make several adjustments.  Rather than listing the full title of her position at Shaolin, Tina posted only Assistant Screen Developer.  She remembered to list Shane has her supervisor.  She edited a few statements and had her computer fax the document to the listed number.  She sent a quick text message to Shane to be on the safe side.  She didn’t want her friend to be caught off guard.

    Applying at The Peabody Foundation.  Asst. Developer.  Proceeding w/ U as a reference. Expect a call. Luv, TK 

    Tina read through the remaining employment postings and decided that applying to one position at a time would be sufficient.  She didn’t need to work during her leave from Shaolin.  For her it was more about giving back to the community and furthering her creative endeavors.  She crossed her fingers and exited the LA Times website.  Perhaps she would get lucky.

    By the time she was shutting down her computer, her new phone buzzed with an incoming message.
