The Black Flag
It was a mere foot from Shane and she knew she’d not have enough time to run from it so instead Shane grabbed the iron ball and threw it back to the man-of-war before the ball could explode and send shrapnel into the air. Shane quickly ducked down behind the bulwark as the iron ball burst into a ball of flame sending bits of metal flying into the enemy.
What seemed like a long fight to the men aboard either ship in reality only lasted a mere minute before three of the original five pirates that had been sent for supplies came back carrying barrels above their head.
“All hand hoay!” The pirate captain cried out as he kicked an English seaman over the bulwark and using a boarding axe began to cut the grappling lines that bound the two ships together.
“Aye aye!” the crew cried back in unison and all the men aboard the Robin got to work killing the last of the English seamen aboard their vessel and cutting the remaining grappling lines.
“Set full sails! Victor take us North-East!”
Men quickly went to work setting the sails to make an escape. The ship began to deviate from the parallel alignment it had with the navy ship and was soon off leaving the crippled man-of-war behind her.
There was a loud cheer from the crew as the ship got out of range of the man-of-wars guns. Shane shook her head at the man-of-war. Boy, would they be pissed. They had a broken main mast and a downed lateen sail. With the damage the pirates had done to them there was no way they would catch up now. Not to mention they had lost some supplies and Captain Shane McCutcheon that the Admiral was so looking forward to see hanging. Shane smiled. She would live to die another day.
“Feed the fish, than eat your fill men! You deserve it!” The Captain cried out and held his cutlass above his head in triumph. At this the pirates cheered back and began to search the soldiers pockets for anything valuable before throwing the bodies into the water for the sharks.
Shane began to walk to the prow of the ship before she was joined by the captain. He grinned.
“I’m Captain Mark Wayland.” He said simply.
“Aye?…” Shane said hands resting on the bulwark, "Shane McCutcheon." Shane decided to forgo the title of Captain as here she was no longer Captain.
He simply grinned and held out a hand for her to take, “Welcome to the Robin.”

Amazing! Shane makes such a convincing pirate ;)The concept didn’t seem at all impossible to me, I’m sure there were many people like this on the high seas.Definitely would read more, 5/5!
Excellent! I had in the past thought of doing a pirate theme but gave it up because it required too much research. You’ve done a fabulous job of this first chapter and I look forward to reading more. Thanks for posting! Lin
