    The Burning Wheel. 2

They say for the first year or so I didn’t talk much. I would only eat if I was told. I could not sleep alone yet I was not afraid of the dark. Then sun scared me more than anything. My new parents they had me bunk with Dana till I was 12. And Dana was the one I trusted the most. Soon I adapted. I grew out of my shell. I soaked up as much knowledge of the old world that I could. I loved this particular film disc called "Who’s the boss." It made me laugh, the camping trips…Tony seeing Angela naked…I laughed and laughed. There where darker images things we where not allowed to watch…certain films, certain Audio Reference discs where not allowed. One of these certain films was called The Terminator….off limits….but I got a copy one night from my best friend Alice. We all had a sleep over.

I remember the night with vivid Technicolor clarity. By this time we where 13. We made popcorn in the kettle. We roasted marsh mellows the whole nine. I remember because it was the first night I noticed Dana. She was always someone to pick on for me. She was always there for me even though I was an all around pain in the ass. And this night she wore a pair of tight red sweat pants and a white t-shirt. And the image of that made me feel strange. It seemed like my vision cleared and I finally noticed how much I liked to look at her. It seemed that she felt it too.

So we are in her room. Her pictures of nature and sports all along her walls. Her cleanness, her order, it was the reason we where in her room as apposed to mine. My room looked like a tornado passed through it. We locked her door. And placed the disc in the player. And the opening music struck such a painful chord in me. It had my complete attention. As the movie progressed and the violence and dark nature of the film carried I found myself freaked out. Dana and Alice long ago fell asleep thinking the movie dumb and boring. But I couldn’t stop. This unstopped thing hell bent on killing everything in its path, the vision of the future so much like the way we lived now. Except our life was lived in the day, in luxury….I knew that somewhere out there people lived this way. People trapped without rules. People trapped without food……trapped.

    1. “Starling” complex ? TV Sky ? Mmm… Loving that story, brings to mind a lot of sci-fi greats especially with the reconstruction of society. I can’t wait for the next chapter, I like that Shane’s all cocky smitten at the same time, charming stuff ! * * * * *

    2. I love your stories. They’re very well written, entertaining, and super sexy. Well done. I love how you really make everyone into their own characters instead of making them all carbon copies of each other with different names. You really seem to understand what goes through their heads. I love it. I totaly get lost in it. Can’t wait for the next chapter. Also, thank you, thank you, thank you for having an amazing imagination AND good grammer! There’s nothing worse than a story with good potential but bad grammer.
