    The Date

I glance at Tina to let her order first. I can see some hesitation playing across her features.

”A glass of water, please,” Tina finally says.

”I’ll have the same, thank you,” I smile politely at the waitress before she leaves us alone.

”Gosh, I’m really starving. More often than not I would likely to skip lunch or, you know, have something light for stomach, like, my favourite low fat lasagna or, for example, Vietnamese noodle soup. I love Vietnamese cuisine for its natural healthiness,” I prattle, looking through the menu. ”Today I think I could make an exception and order something high-calorie and nutrient-dense. I hope my stomach won’t protest much,” I chuckle.

Lifting my head, I notice that Tina has no intention to choose what she’d like to eat, for her menu set is lying on the table untouched.

”Tina? Have you decided yet what you want to order?” I inquire, half-amused.

”I’m not really hungry,” she answers with a shrug.

I sit back in my chair slowly and consider her for a few moments. ”Are you sure it’s true?”

”Why wouldn’t it be true?” she answers back, her posture growing a little defensive, I can tell.

I tilt my head sideways. ”So you suppose I have a meal while you just sit there and watch me?”

”I don’t see anything wrong about it.”

”Actually, everything is wrong about it. It’s downright disrespectful on your part.”

The waitress comes back, ready to write down our orders.

”Excuse me, could you give us a minute please?” I usher the woman away charmingly before turning back to Tina. Sitting up straight, I lean forward on the table and show my blonde companion the best condescending smile of mine. ”Didn’t your mama teach you manners, Miss Kennard?”

The indifferent expression in the hazel eyes turns into a glower.

Uh-oh, looks like I just pushed someone’s buttons.

Even though I don’t want to harass her any more than I already have by bringing her here, having been aware that her finances might not be in a good shape and it would make her uncomfortable to be here, I can’t help my curiosity about what she’d do next if I were to push her buttons just a few more times.

    1. Hi Valery:

I love your update that was pretty funny and amazing; Bette as always is so full of herself, the center of the universe, she is so blind with her selfishness thinking she is scoring when it is the other way around; and Tina, knowing about the way Bette is, reacts in a precise manner, being very sharp and cold; which is starting to discomfit Bette at the point to wanting to change her behavior in the hope of a new date. Thank you for this very nice chapter and pps.

    2. This is so good and funny ???? Bette is everything that Tina isn’t. Mostly a self centered bitch and a ego so big, but Tina will make her more humble.

Thank you for bringing this story back!
