I Will Not Let You Fall

”It’s so great to see you, baby sis,” Kit said in a soft voice as she held Bette close.

Returning the embrace, the young brunette smiled warmly. After some moments she inched back and studied her big sister. Kit looked good on the whole, but there was a touch of dreariness in her dark eyes, something that Bette had seen on a regular basis when Kit had still been struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. This observation worried Bette, but she refrained from commenting on it. Instead, she pulled away from the hug gently and looked around the house.

”Come on, I made some camomile tea and apple pie while I was waiting for you,” Kit encouraged, leading the way.

As Bette followed her to the kitchen, she couldn’t help herself, but scan the house for evidence of Kit’s possible relapse, failing to act more stealthily.

”Do you really not believe in me, at all?”

Bette turned her head to look at her sister. Kit was looking at her with accusatory, but sad eyes, waiting for her question to be answered.

Bette lowered her head guiltily. ”I’m sorry,” she uttered in sincere apology. ”Of course I believe in you, Kit. I’m just…” she broke off and began massaging her temples to make the building tension go away. She then sat down at the kitchen table and continued, ”It’s just I haven’t seen you in quite a while, and I’m worried that you might be lonely and…” she stopped in the middle of the sentence once again, having no desire to provoke Kit. ”I don’t feel like a supportive sister I should be…”

”Well, you’re a busy woman, Bette,” Kit remarked evenly, pouring tea into two cups.

The brunette let out a sigh. Why did everyone keep saying that she’s a busy woman, Bette asked herself. She was never busy for people she loved, was she?

”Anyway,” Kit placed a cup of tea and a plate with a piece of pie in front of her sister before taking a seat opposite her. ”I’m doing very good. Lonely, yeah, but good. AA meetings help, I’ve met some interesting people there.”

Bette reached for Kit’s hand across the table, managing a small smile. ”I’m so proud of you,” she whispered.

    1. I don’t trust Helena at all, i think she is a traitor and will do anything in her power to damage Bette both in “work” and personal life. Shane better don’t let Tina from her eye sight.

Excellent update! Thank you for the update!

    2. Hi Valerie:

Very nice update; it looks like Bette is looking for a way out, with Tina, from her messy life, what intrigues me is, if she plans to run away out of the country with Tina, why is she buying the house? or perhaps she thinks Tina finally won’t go with her and Bette bought the house for Tina; however knowing how possessive and jealous and in love she is, she hardly will leave her girlfriend. I see that you have a character called Henry there, would it be some hetero drama? I hope not. This first part of your chapter 29 is wonderful, but I was wondering about the second part and the outcomes from Bette’s trip to Tijuana, I agree with Bibi, I don’t trust Helena; well, better to wait for your next post, which I’m eagerly expecting to solve some of my questions. Thanks for the story and pps.

      • Hi, proteonomics! I thought I could clarify some things for you before posting the next part. First, the house Bette’s bought is located in another country, where she’s planning to flee to with Tina. And second, no I’m not having any hetero drama with Henry in this story, Henry is simply Bette’s partner in crime, no more no less. :) Thank you for being interested! xoxo

    3. Oh my.
I do not know how Bette is going to get out of this, now she’s the boss of this gang. But
I think she already has plans to get out of this crime life because she would not buy a house just to give Tina, she wants to share it with Tina, and I know how hard it will be for Tina to make that choice.
