The exchange
The touch from Tina sent shock waves down bette’s spine, it was feelings she had never experienced before and it was quite overwhelming. “No- god no, you didn’t upset me. I don’t mind you asking questions. I wanted a child with my ex girlfriend but we were unsuccessful. I’ve always wanted to be a mother” Bette spoke, giving Tina half a smile as her hand slid on top of Tina’s, keeping her hand on her arm. The blonde’s eyes softened, the touch of Bette’s hand was magnetic. She didn’t want her to let go as a gentle breath left her lips, she could have become lost in that moment forever. Tina was truly smitten by the brunette and she didn’t want to depart even though her stop was soon approaching.
“I have to get off soon, could I give you my number? I would love to – meet up outside of this damn train?” Tina said with a soft chuckle. Bette’s smile grew, nodding quickly as she pulled her flip phone out. The woman opened up a new contact and handed her phone to Tina so that she could put her number in. The blonde started to add it in, biting down on her lip as she concentrated, Bette picking up on the habit and finding it extremely adorable. “And done! Just drop me a message so I’ll have yours… we can plan something” she said softly, Bette grinning at her words. “Perfect, I’d love that. I would love to get to know you more, T” she said softly.
Tina’s eyes sparked, the nickname felt so special and personal. She had never been called that before but she wasn’t about to complain. She loved it. “I have to go but it was nice to see you again. Can’t wait to actually spend time with you soon” Tina said with an eye roll and chuckle, the train not being the best place to get to know someone. “Bye, B” she said in response, giving her a little nickname too. Bette immediately giggled, realising the nickname after she had given Tina one. “Bye T, see you soon. Can’t wait” she said with a hint of excitement.
Bette watched the woman walk away, going to the train exit. She was quick to grab her phone and open up Tina’s number, typing out a message.
‘it’s Bette, how about Saturday? Xx’ she pressed send, biting her bottom lip anxiously.
‘Sounds perfect, I need to double check with the nanny but I’m sure she’ll be around for a few hours. Can we do daytime, maybe around angies nap? 1-3? We could just go for a nice walk? Xxx’ Tina replied instantly.
Bette opened the message and felt her heart racing with nerves and excitement. ‘See you then, I’ll send you the location. Can’t wait Xx’
The brunette leant back, gripping hard on to her phone as her eyes close. She basked in the moment, taking everything in. Maybe this was her second chance? Maybe Jodi wasn’t supposed to be the love of her life? Did she even ever love Jodi? She never felt these huge strong waves of connection with her ex or with anyone but Tina.
