The Fast and Fevered Fall – Epilogue

Tina looked into the darkness, she could hear more than see the waves lapping against the beach. It was a warm night so she was dressed in just jeans and a t-shirt. She was underdressed really but no one seemed to mind. She had been caught off guard. She never even suspected that anyone was planning anything, or that they had even known that this date meant more than any other date to her, even more that the significant dates that she shared with Bette. This was all about her and that meant something that no one could take away.

Tina looked over her shoulder. She smiled to herself as she saw the bright lights of Helena’s house. She could see movement inside and hear the faint traces of the music that they were playing. Tina was glad that everyone was having a great time but she needed to spend some time on her own. She still wasn’t used to spending prolonged periods of time with more than a couple of people. Tina wondered how long her period of adjustment back into the world would last, or whether is would go on forever, the self inflicted scars always bearing their weight on her.

She looked back to the water and remembered the day that Angelica had told her that the water was cold, like it was something that she had discovered that day. She remembered sitting with Bette on the sand talking, sometimes laughing but most of all being comfortable in each other’s company, for the first time in years Tina had been in a place where she wasn’t pushing Bette away. Tina thoughts were distracted by the crunch of sand behind her, she looked to find Shane coming towards her.

“It’s a beautiful night.” said Shane, looking up towards the stars.

“Just the night for a party.” confirmed Tina.

“Yeah, so how are you enjoying your one year sober party?”

“I can’t lie and say that it’s the kind of party that I ever imagined myself going to, but I think that everyone’s having a great time, which is amazing given what you’ve all had to drink.”

“All I can say to that it that this is the best water that I ever tasted.” laughed Shane, waving the bottle that she clutched in her hand.

    1. Nice ending. Are you not going to be writing and posting here because that would be a shame. We need to see where these women are 50yrs from now.

    2. Brava. This story has just been absolutely excellent, citygirl, from start to finish. I’ve looked forward to every post, and I’m sorry it’s ended now (but not the way it ended — that was bliss); I really, really enjoyed every step of Tina’s, and Bette’s, journey no matter how hard it was. Thank you for writing it, and thank you for sharing it with us all. I hope that you’ll continue writing in the near future. Cheers, citygirl.

    3. I still can’t believe you killed Shane! Oh wait wrong story. hehe I just had to make that jab because of what we talked about at the convention. A shame we didn’t get to talk more. This was definitely a big downward spiral that makes one wonder if it will ever stop and go in the opposite direction. The ending went through the roof. Thanks for sharing this with us. =)

    4. Yes I’m counting down until we get rid of George! I’m always available to answer your intelligent questions. I hope you’ll consider writing again after the season is over. I’ve enjoyed reading your stories so much, digging deep, exploring the pain and how to get back to the other side is a good thing, a very thing good and I’m going to miss reading this story.

    5. You can’t leave us. Thank you for turning a story that was painful and sad into one that gave us the hope and belief in love and 2nd, sometimes three chances.

    6. Nice ending for what has been an excellent, and excellently-written story. I’ve been riveted from the first chapter. But what do you mean, “the last time that (you’re) going to be doing this”? Please keep writing!

    7. cg..You can’t quit on us. I loved this story. Your writing is so excellent. And I love happy endings. But you could continue this story and see how they work through their lives. Please come back after you’ve refreshed or whatev.

    8. I’d like to reiterate the comments made by Tiff_Dike – another one of my favorite author’s; this story was extremely well written and utterly captivating from the get go. I will genuinely miss it.

    14. I take it from you author’s notes that this is the last story that you will write for at least a while. I have not always commented because your stories broke my Tibette heart. But I will forgive you because you believe Laurel is a goddess. Please enjoy your break but bring us another wonderful story at your convenience.

    15. Awesome story and please don’t stay away from writing for long. You have an incredible voice as a writer and I’ve enjoyed your work so much. Thanks for your time and creative work.

    16. Thanks for your stories. This last one was terrific and it allowed me to get through my work night. I read it in one sitting and you before you knew it, it was time to go home. I hope you continue to write. Your writing is amazing. Lamentamin, on a side note, your comments continue to make me laugh.

    17. Hey C-Gal, That was gorgeous as HElena had to push Tina and Bette towards the full consummation of their relationship. This pair really don’t see the wood for the trees. Just as well that they have such great and supportive friends. Shane and Tina’s chat was wonderful as the familiar relationships blossomed once more. And the final scene with Bette was loving and tender. It displayed the depth of noth the gal’s emotions and how far they had both come on this journey called life. Only one niggle; is this the end of the fabulous fan fiction. Please say it ain’t so. Thanks for the delightful and pleasurable story. Your Loyal Fan.

    18. Thank you so much for this wonderful story. I’ve been following it since chapter 1. It’s a wonderfully written great story, that captured my heart. Many thanks and looking forward to your next one.

    19. Terrific writing as always. Adored the happy ending. Where else but in fanfic land can my favorite couple live happily ever after? Thanks for creating and sharing this fabulous story. Please tell me you are simply taking a short hiatus while season 4 airs and then you’re coming back to us. Pretty please with sugar on top?

    20. You know I really think that this could be a 50 part epilogue, just to cover those fifty years of forever, I know you want to. I know it was hard for you to see the passion of being a Tibette Shipper, but you did it, you got that first story of A Life I Never Meant out of your system and produced this masterpiece, which I believe will be most worthy of a second award for you. So well written and very different from anything else on the site in the way you swung from past to present with chapters, a very unique and wonderful read, its always the first one I look for! And mate… its always a pleasure, and I hope we get to meet at the next convention!

    21. i really loved this story from the beginning, you could really feel the pain radiating out of tina, but to be honest, i couldn’t wait for the big reunion, every hot detail, but you kind of fast forwarded the story instead, great job anyways!!!

    22. Thank you so much for this amazing story full of intense emotion. You had me glued to my computer. Tina’s painful sadness was very palpable – I’m so glad you let her get her life back together. I also loved your Helena: so generous and likeable, wishing only the best for Tina. If you write another story, I’ll be reading!

    23. Well well …what an awesome story that was and a happy ending too! Thanks City. Can’t it be continued into the future. LOL. Anyway hope that you would start a new story soon!

    24. I don’t know quite what I want to say… this story has been such a perfect mix of heartbreak and hope, a complete journey from awful to perfect. Thank you for the mending and sharing this always touching story… I still say there’s no author who gets quite such strong reactions out of me like you do. Brilliant, always, and beautiful. Gorgeous ending. Thanks again.

    25. Once again an amazing story. I’m always a lil sad when your stories end. I hope that you come back and write again cause if yo don’t that would be a damn shame. tHANKS ONCR AGAIN FOR TAKING THE TIME.
