    The Gathering 01.02 – Life’s
    Little Hurdles

     

                Tina
    sat at a quiet table at the Planet sipping her coffee and stripping layers off
    a cinnamon roll.  Tina  She was taking a much-needed day off from
    work.  Tina
    was apartment hunting and had found a PR job that left her plenty of time to
    still do charity work too.  She smiled to
    herself, she felt like the Tina of old for just
    a nano-minute.  Then she remembered, as
    she walked in through the door of the Planet, Bette.
    popped the sweet treat into her mouth with practiced fingers.

     

                Bette
    looked stunning in a designer suit it was a dark crimson that off set her deep
    brown eyes, her hair was shorter and straighter too.  Bette carried
    a shoulder bag and was shaking her head as she spoke on her cell phone.  All business no play.  At least not today,
    thought Tina to herself.

     

                Tina
    took a deep breath and sat back in her chair slouching and hiding from Bette‘s
    roaming eyes.  Bette  More
    so since she hadn’t seen her in over a month. 
    It instantly reminded her of why she’d fallen so madly in love with Bette
    Porter     in the first place. 
    looked stunning as she always did.

     

                Her mind flashed back
    to the instant that she’d realized that there was something more than
    friendship between     Bette and Candace.  The soft touch of Bette‘s
    hand on Candace‘s arm.  She felt the anger brimming, and clamped her
    teeth down onto it.  Tina
    didn’t enjoy being angry and seeing Bette now
    brought back that anger.

     

                Bette
    grabbed the cup of coffee, said hello to Marina
    softly, and slunk out of the Planet.  She
    hadn’t seen Tina in there but was sure that
    she’d seen her go into the building earlier. 
    She was aghast at herself to have sunk to the level of following around
    her ex-love.

     

    *****

     

                “I want to interview
    you for the magazine.”      Alice
    said into her cell phone.  She was
    walking at a fast pace to her offices.

     

                “No, really it was my editor’s
    idea.  How about over dinner
    tonight?  My place?”      Alice
    smiled impishly and skipped along into her work building.

     

    *****

     

                Shane
    sat at the stoplight waiting for it to turn red when a huge muscular man came
    out of nowhere and punched her through her open window.  Shane‘s head
    snapped back and she felt his strong hands pulling her from the cab of her
    truck.  Her hand lashed out and punched
    at him, screaming and kicking as she was flung across the pavement into on
    coming traffic.  She rolled to her feet
    just as a car came screeching to a halt. 
    The bumper caught Shane     and she was
    tossed onto the hood as her truck went tearing away from the stop light.

    1. Some people don’t read your comments. Sam is neat, Poor Shane, Tina gets to Bette and Marina and Kit gets Fran. loving it all over again. thanks bvh

    2. I am enjoying it. I just have one question, what do you have against Bette (and Shane for that matter)? I know they have to suffer, but Tina thinks she’s a stalker..pu-llease Tina get a grip. Please do not wipe up the floor with them. I am sure you won’t. I know deep down inside, in the clear, crisp recesses of your mind you are a TiBetter. JKDWYD

    3. Oh yeah, Kit to the rescue!! While Marina behaved badly in season 1 (“I’ve opened up your world”, I say, “who asked you for your help woman!!”), I don’t think she deserved Fran (What a hussy!!) or that husband (boy, o boy). Indeed she had enough misery. Also, I like the fact that you are bringing to light the whole dissolution of marriage thing for Jenny and Tim (poor guy).

    4. this is my first time commenting on either of your stories but i thought it should be known that i love thr sam character, but i am seeing a theme or at least a small connection between this and your last story, you like shane either blind or in hospitals it seems lol…anyway keep up the good work and post soon please

    9. Awesome chapter, we get flown in right where the drama is taking place. Love it. Poor Shane, getting carjacked like that, she’s a lucky girl. Not only cuz she’s going to be fine physically but also because she’s being taken care of by our lovely Doc. Kit has got balls!!! What a great way to slap Francesca in the face, not literally but this is so much better. Agh…Bette, I know she betrayed Tina but they really have to work things out. I hope they will eventually.

    10. Well, I like Sam Vance, it will be fun to see if she ends up taking care of Shane. Love the drama between B&T even if it is just a little. I love this Kit she seems powerful and sure of herself.
