The Good Sister #17 – Touch Tones
”Cur-ray and I’m having cheese.” She says hugging her soft rabbit stuffed animal.
”You’re having more than cheese, don’t be silly.” Tina gives me a sweet welcome home kiss. ”Tonight’s bedtime story for her, not me, must be about alligators. It’s all she’ll talk about.”
I turn to my daughter. ”Oh, I saw them alright. They’re very big, with very big teeth!” And I make a scary face. ”Are you sure, little rabbit should hear?”
At the bedroom door Shane snaps a picture. ”You guys are too cute.”
”Take your jacket off.” Tina pulls it from my shoulders, and with a surprise from my other end, Shane beginning tugging off my boots.
”Wait!” I begin to flail. ”You guys slow down!”
The commotion makes Angelica hop around us on the bed singing, ”Alley gators. alley gators, coming to my house!”
I reach out to catch her jumping legs. ”You’re calling them here! What are you doing?”
Tina starts for the kitchen. ”Shane, stay for dinner. It’s curry.” Angelica hops off the bed, and follows her, still singing.
I pick up my boots on the way to the shower. ”With cheese. I hear it’s a popular combination.”
”Okay, I will. Things are weird at my house.”
Inside the bathroom, I begin to pull off my clothes. ”This you’ve just noticed?”
”No, I mean fucking weird.”
”Meet at the pool in ten. Bring beer.”
”Done.”
By the pool – Bette
Shane appears unusually serious. ”I keep finding this girl, Adele, snooping around my house. If part of my kidney wasn’t about to go missing, I’d swear she’d try to take that, too.”
”Liver,” I correct.
”Right. Is that worse?”
”No idea. Who’s Adele?”
”An intern who’s wrapped around Jenny, very tight.”
I lie back on my chaise and watch jet trails overhead, so glad not to still be up there. ”You would not believe the types of intern trouble I’ve had.”
Shane gives me a slow grin. ”Types?”
I lean in closer, and in a low voice I whisper, ”The ’coiled around you’ part, I can relate to. Let’s just leave it at that.”
We drink beer in silence, and Shane stares over at her house, and frowns. ”Pretty sure Tina has to fire me from the movie, right?”

Oh, dear lord, it seems the shit has arrived and Bette is clueless, she is a little absorbed with herself and doesn’t pay attention on what is going around her, she better be careful.
Great pictures! And thank you for the update!
Glad BETTE is back home with her family.thanks
Can’t wait until the Miami chicks and Bette have a talk. Should be very interesting. Loved it. Thanks Blackbird

Well damn! Bette needs to think about how she handles this situation with T. However, looking forward to her sorting out those bitches from Miami! Eagerly awaiting the next installment

Just now got all up-to-date. Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds. I”m a huge Pam Grier fan, so anytime you work in Kit, I’m there all over it. On a side note: I sometimes imagine a wall at your house covered with post-it-notes and yarn linking plot elements together, as you always have so many subplots twisting in and out. Or do you keep this all in your head, BB? If you do and can, I am in awe and amazement!

You write romance like no other: A kiss that lasted so long – it had finally shot through me like a lightning bolt…gives me goosebumps…like your sense of humour; you know exactly where to place it too: you guys don’t have to come back next time, okay? It’ll be safer that way…(funnyyyy). You do have Bette working harder keeping her focus on Tina more now than having drifting off in a cloud…
Yes, you need to bring those Miami chicks back into play…I like having Kit here; Kit is a great aunt to Angelica; but truly doesn’t have the time nor concentration to look after Angelica for long periods of time at the moment…seriously, considering Shane…let’s see where that takes you…so enjoying your writing…

@Blackbird_write Well done! I always loved how Kit could lay that reality smack down to Bette; revealing her vulnerability.
Via Twitter – I also enjoyed that fine balance of Bette’s nostalgia for the “old” T & her equal partner she’s planning to spoil????

You have taken your story line to a whole new level…Tina going to a Gypsy to entrust her relationship now with Bette will survive…wow…did not see that coming…so thrilled you did that. Tina is smart to realize she needs someone to ride shotgun is right…someone who has the stomach & nerves of steel to handle the game plan to take over Aaron’s job.
Laughed when I read Tina blushed recalling the sex with Helena at unusual places….right
place in the storyline to place this…I understand Bette now; so not surprised the complexity of Bette hating & trying to get Tina back at the same time…you did a fantastic job with Bette’s character. Like how you didn’t make Jodi a wimp of a character…Bette leaving her won’t have
shedding tears…Good to see Joyce back in the play…self assured; spoils herself comes to mind; can manoeuver anyone she wants…maybe that is the definition of a lawyer…haven’t given much thought to it…No one lectures Bette; though I don’t think Joyce had that in mind…
Bette & Joyce cooking…looking forward to that challenge…well…looking forward to the next chapter better put…you are one intriguing writer…can’t get enough of you…;-)
I am slowly updating my reading,
I hope to do this as quickly as possible.
Photo of Bette at the beginning of the page is great! go to my file.
Bette back home, very good.
The entire constellation.
