Chapter 24
6 pm. Day 22. The Planet. West Hollywood.
Bette arrived at the planet still dressed in her suit, partly because she didn’t have time to get changed, more because she felt like she needed the confidence boost. She strode in the doors boldly and scanned the room until she spotted Kit, Shane, Alice and Dana. She smiled as she made eye contact with Shane, walking across the room to join them.
"Bette! Hey!" Dana spoke first as she spotted the brunette.
"Hey Dane, hey everyone" Bette kissed them all on the cheek before taking the spare seat next to Shane.
"So, you’ve been quiet Porter, we haven’t seen you in almost a week, what’s been going on? How was dirty weekend number 2?" Alice piped up.
"Al." Shane threw a look at her friend that unmistakably translated to ‘shut up.’
"What? Oh c’mon, you were all thinking it."
"I had a great weekend Alice, thanks for asking. I actually had a great week… I’ve been in San Francisco since Tuesday night, and I’m flying back up tonight."
The table was quiet for a few moments, Kit spoke first.
"When did you… What happened?"
"Well I spoke to Tina on Tuesday after breakfast. And… Well I managed to move my appointments for last week so I decided to fly up that night. And we had a… interesting week… I…" Bette took a deep breath, deciding how much to say to her friends.
"She’s working really hard, and she’s pretty stressed, it was beginning to affect us and it was definitely affecting her. I managed to move most of my appointments for the next couple of weeks; I flew in this morning for some meetings I couldn’t move, to pack some stuff and to see you guys. But I’m going to be in San Francisco for the next 2 weeks and come back with Tina when she’s ready to move." She spoke quickly, wanting to get the words out there so they stopped swirling around in her mind. She had practiced them over and over, but they had not come out as she had intended.
"Wow."
"Yeah."
"Damn girl."
Alice was the only one not to speak, she fiddled with the label on her beer before taking a swig. Bette watched her with concern before quickly glancing at the other 3, who took the hint and gave weak reasons to excuse themselves, leaving the former lovers alone.

Hmmm…Bette is not going to like it when they’re back in LA and Tina sleeps at her house and Bette sleeps at hers. Should be interesting. Great update!

Glad all is cool between B and Al – they really do make better friends than lovers..and wonderful that Dana & Al are realizing their connection…this line was awesome and had me LOL – “Shut up. But on Tuesday it was just making out. But by Wednesday we were eating out.” Thx & PPS!!

That was a quick rebound for Alice. But I think it’s good for all three of them so that they can all move on. Yeah, Bette and Tina’s relationship got serious quite fast. After a rough start, they seem to be getting along nicely now. I don’t know if they’ll be able to live apart in LA after their 3-week live-in setup in SFO. Thanks for this update, tibetteporter! And don’t work as crazy as Tina. :>
